LG Launches GramBook AI 2026 With Intel Wildcat Lake and Up to 30.5 Hours of Battery Life
LG Electronics has introduced the LG GramBook AI 2026, expanding its more accessible laptop lineup with a new 14 inch model powered by Intel Core Series 3 processors. The notebook is positioned as a value focused alternative to more expensive premium AI PCs, with LG specifically citing rising semiconductor costs as one of the reasons it developed the new system. According to the official LG announcement, the GramBook AI 2026 will launch in South Korea on September 7 with pricing starting at KRW 1.45 million.
The new model, identified as 14U40V, is the first 14 inch notebook in LG's GramBook family. Its chassis uses aluminum throughout, giving the system a full metal construction while keeping weight at 1.29 kg and thickness at 14.9 mm. That combination places portability at the center of the design, particularly for students and office users who want something lighter than a conventional value focused notebook without moving into the considerably more expensive Gram Pro category.
Inside is Intel's 2026 Core Series 3, previously known as Wildcat Lake. LG has not disclosed the exact processor SKU being used, which means final CPU core count, integrated graphics configuration and NPU performance will depend on the specific models announced at retail. Intel's wider Core Series 3 platform can scale to 6 CPU cores, combining up to 2 Cougar Cove Performance cores with 4 Darkmont Low Power Efficient cores, alongside Xe3 integrated graphics and an NPU for local AI workloads.
Wildcat Lake is manufactured using Intel 18A for its compute and graphics tile and was specifically created for mainstream laptops where power efficiency and price matter more than flagship performance. As previously covered in our Intel Core Series 3 launch, the platform is designed to bring newer CPU architecture, Xe3 graphics and AI acceleration into more accessible Windows systems instead of reserving the newest Intel technology exclusively for premium Core Ultra notebooks.
Battery life is arguably LG's biggest specification claim. The GramBook AI 2026 carries a 61.2 Wh battery, with LG rating the notebook for as much as 30.5 hours of operation under its testing conditions. A dedicated low noise mode is also available for lighter workloads such as document editing and video playback, reducing system noise in environments including libraries, classrooms and offices. Real world battery endurance will naturally depend on workload, display brightness, wireless activity and system configuration.
Connectivity is surprisingly broad for a thin value focused notebook. LG confirms HDMI, USB Type A, USB Type C, a headphone connection and RJ45 Ethernet, giving users native wired networking without requiring an adapter. The included LG Gram Link software also allows the notebook to connect with smartphones and tablets from multiple manufacturers for photo and video transfers, display extension and control of mobile devices through the laptop's keyboard and touchpad.
Privacy receives additional attention through a physical webcam shutter, something LG specifically notes is often absent from more affordable notebooks. Users can physically block the camera after video conferences, remote classes or other webcam use rather than depending entirely on software controls. Windows is preinstalled, while a dedicated Copilot key provides direct access to Microsoft's integrated AI functionality.
Several important specifications remain undisclosed. LG has not yet detailed the exact display resolution, memory capacity, memory configuration, storage options or individual Core Series 3 processors available for the GramBook AI 2026. Those omissions are significant because they will ultimately determine how competitive the starting KRW 1.45 million configuration is against other Wildcat Lake notebooks entering the market. LG says pricing will vary according to specification.
The launch arrives as Intel Core Series 3 adoption begins accelerating across the PC industry. We previously saw Wildcat Lake laptops appearing through early retail channels, while compact systems including the MINISFORUM M2 Air 304 demonstrate how Intel is extending the architecture beyond conventional notebooks. LG entering this segment gives Wildcat Lake another recognizable global manufacturer as Intel attempts to make its latest architecture relevant beyond premium AI PCs.
The GramBook AI 2026 looks less like a specification showcase and more like LG responding to the economics of the 2026 PC market. Semiconductor and memory costs have made affordable laptops increasingly difficult to build without obvious compromises, so pairing Wildcat Lake with a lightweight aluminum chassis and a large 61.2 Wh battery gives LG a clear way to differentiate without chasing expensive flagship performance.
The claimed 30.5 hour battery life is the specification that deserves the most attention. If independent testing gets reasonably close to that figure, the GramBook AI 2026 could become a strong productivity machine for users who value mobility and endurance above graphics performance.
The missing specifications prevent a complete value judgment for now. At KRW 1.45 million, memory, storage and display quality will matter enormously. LG has established the portability and battery story, but the retail configurations will determine whether the GramBook AI 2026 genuinely becomes one of the strongest value focused Wildcat Lake laptops or simply a more affordable entry into the Gram family.
