China’s CXMT Unveils Full DDR5 and LPDDR5X Lineup, Expanding Domestic DRAM Capabilities for Servers, PCs, and AI Markets

China’s DRAM development continues to accelerate as ChangXin Memory Technologies CXMT officially debuts its next generation DDR5 and LPDDR5X memory products at the 2025 China International Semiconductor Expo. After finalizing production plans earlier this year, the company is positioning itself as a direct competitor to the global DRAM leaders Samsung, SK hynix, and Micron. The announcement was first reported by ICVIEWS.

CXMT’s new DDR5 portfolio leverages 16 Gb and 24 Gb DRAM densities, scaling up to speeds of 8000 MT/s. The company outlined an extensive product matrix across multiple form factors including UDIMM, SODIMM, RDIMM, CSODIMM, CUDIMM, and TFF MRDIMM. These variants enable CXMT to serve a broad range of computing segments such as data centers, consumer desktops, gaming platforms, and laptops. This positions CXMT as a comprehensive domestic memory supplier in a market typically dominated by the Big Three.

Another highlight from the expo was the appearance of ASGARD memory modules equipped with CXMT’s DDR5 ICs. ASGARD, known for its early release of CUDIMM DDR5 modules, showcased gaming oriented kits using CXMT components, promising higher overclocking ceilings and expanded performance potential for the enthusiast market.

Alongside DDR5, CXMT also introduced its LPDDR5X lineup featuring 12 Gb and 16 Gb DRAM densities. These chips support speeds up to 10667 MT/s and enable module capacities scaling from 12 GB to 32 GB. Positioned for laptops, embedded systems, and AI edge devices, this product line reinforces CXMT’s ambitions beyond traditional consumer segments into high growth AI workloads.

The timing of CXMT’s DDR5 introduction is notable. With global DRAM suppliers struggling to meet unprecedented demand triggered by AI acceleration, the market has experienced significant supply constraints and price spikes. By establishing domestic DDR5 production, China aims to reduce reliance on overseas manufacturers and create supply stability for local OEMs and data center operators.

CXMT’s expanding product ecosystem signals a strategic push to become a leading memory supplier both within China and in competitive global segments. As AI driven demand continues to reshape the DRAM landscape, CXMT’s entry adds a new variable to an already dynamic market.
