NVIDIA Launches DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction as 007 First Light, CONTROL Resonant and RTX Remix Join the Rollout

NVIDIA has officially released DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction, bringing its second generation transformer model to ray traced and path traced games while confirming major integrations for 007 First Light, CONTROL Resonant and RTX Remix. The technology is available now through the Early Access version of the NVIDIA App, with a wider official release planned for September. NVIDIA says the upgraded model delivers 35% more compute capability and processes 20% more parameters while maintaining similar performance to the previous Ray Reconstruction model.

Ray Reconstruction replaces traditional hand tuned denoisers with an AI model trained on NVIDIA supercomputers, reconstructing missing ray traced information together with DLSS Super Resolution. The new DLSS 4.5 model has been trained using a larger dataset and introduces deeper spatial awareness, improved temporal stability, more accurate lighting and clearer details in motion. Developers also gain greater control over temporal accumulation, allowing the technology to be tuned more precisely for different rendering pipelines. NVIDIA demonstrated improvements in titles including Alan Wake 2, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and PRAGMATA, where difficult effects such as particle movement, reflections and rapidly changing lighting can expose weaknesses in conventional denoising.

007 First Light will become one of the biggest demonstrations of the technology when its path tracing and DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction update arrives on September 15. IO Interactive's James Bond adventure already supports DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution and Dynamic Multi Frame Generation, but the September update will add fully path traced lighting, shadows and reflections. The update completes a feature rollout that was postponed from the game's original launch.

CONTROL Resonant will take a different approach by launching on September 24 with path tracing and the complete DLSS 4.5 feature set already enabled. Remedy Entertainment's sequel will use Ray Reconstruction alongside Super Resolution and Dynamic Multi Frame Generation, positioning it as one of NVIDIA's flagship PC technology showcases for 2026. That continues the strategy established earlier this year when NVIDIA confirmed 007 First Light and CONTROL Resonant as central games in its DLSS 4.5 rollout. NVIDIA is also currently bundling CONTROL Resonant with qualifying GeForce RTX 5070 and higher graphics cards, systems and laptops.

RTX Remix is receiving the same technology, which could make DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction particularly important beyond modern AAA releases. NVIDIA has upgraded the RTX Remix runtime so modders can integrate DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction and Multi Frame Generation directly into path traced remasters of classic PC games. Existing Remix projects can also be upgraded using the latest runtime, although NVIDIA warns that compatibility and visual quality may vary depending on the individual mod.

The timing coincides with 2 major RTX Remix projects. Painkiller RTX has received a new update, while The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind RTX has now been revealed as another community project using RTX Remix to rebuild the classic RPG with path traced lighting. Portal with RTX and other existing Remix projects can also use the new Ray Reconstruction model by updating their runtime, extending DLSS 4.5 into games that were created decades before modern ray tracing hardware existed.

Players do not necessarily need to wait for individual game patches to begin testing the new model. After enabling Early Access releases inside the NVIDIA App, supported games can use the new Ray Reconstruction model through DLSS Override settings. NVIDIA currently allows players to select either its recommended configuration or Preset F globally or for individual supported titles. The same NVIDIA App update also introduces individual Resizable BAR controls, G SYNC Pulsar configuration and Borderless Windowed support for Optimal Playable Settings, further expanding the software controls available directly through NVIDIA's unified application.

DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction may be more important for visual quality than another increase in generated frame counts. Path tracing creates enormous amounts of incomplete lighting information that must be reconstructed cleanly, and artifacts around reflections, particles, thin geometry and motion can quickly undermine the visual advantage of more accurate lighting. NVIDIA improving the reconstruction model while keeping performance relatively similar is therefore an important step toward making path tracing look less experimental and more consistent during actual gameplay.

RTX Remix could also become one of the most interesting applications. Modern games can eventually receive developer updates, but community projects depend heavily on tools that allow older engines to benefit from new rendering technology without being completely rebuilt. Giving modders access to the same DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction model used by CONTROL Resonant and 007 First Light could make the visual gap between official RTX releases and community remasters considerably smaller.
