NVIDIA Driver 617.42 Brings Game Ready Support for Modern Warfare 4 and Galactic Racer

NVIDIA has released GeForce Game Ready Driver 617.42 WHQL, preparing supported GeForce GPUs for another busy October gaming window led by Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, Star Wars: Galactic Racer, Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Sim Update 7, and Valor Mortis. The driver launched on October 6, 2026 and is available through the NVIDIA official driver page and NVIDIA app for Windows 10 64 bit and Windows 11 systems.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is one of the biggest additions. Campaign Early Access begins October 16 for customers who pre ordered the game, followed by the complete launch on October 23 with multiplayer and DMZ. NVIDIA confirms DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution across supported GeForce RTX hardware, Frame Generation for RTX 40 Series systems, and Dynamic Multi Frame Generation with up to 6X multiplication on RTX 50 Series GPUs. NVIDIA Reflex is also supported, while optional ray traced reflections will push the PC version further on higher end configurations.

Star Wars: Galactic Racer is already available and launches directly into NVIDIA’s current RTX ecosystem with DLSS 4.5 Dynamic Multi Frame Generation, Super Resolution, Ray Reconstruction, and hardware accelerated ray traced Lumen lighting. The technical package follows the feature set previously confirmed for Star Wars Galactic Racer, making the arcade racer another significant showcase for NVIDIA’s newest rendering technologies.

Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen arrives October 9 alongside a free update for the base game. NVIDIA says the update upgrades the existing DLSS implementation to DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution and Dynamic Multi Frame Generation. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 follows on October 13 with Sim Update 7, bringing DLSS 4.5 and Multi Frame Generation with support for up to 6X multiplication. NVIDIA says its testing has shown performance scaling reaching as high as 6.4X under appropriate workloads.

Driver 617.42 also continues NVIDIA’s broader DLSS push surrounding releases such as Gears of War: E Day, 007 First Light, Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered, Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival, and Valor Mortis. The new package follows September’s GeForce Driver 617.14 rollout, which prepared GeForce systems for CONTROL Resonant, Gears of War: E Day, The Witcher 3 Remastered, and AION 2.

The official NVIDIA driver notes also confirm a fix for Assassin’s Creed Shadows potentially crashing to the desktop after extended gameplay on Driver 616.56. Beyond individual fixes, Driver 617.42 acts as NVIDIA’s software foundation for several major October releases while expanding access to its latest DLSS 4.5 feature set across new and updated PC titles.

Driver 617.42 is another example of how Game Ready releases have evolved beyond simple launch compatibility. NVIDIA is increasingly using each driver as the software foundation for a much larger RTX feature stack involving reconstruction, generated frames, ray tracing, latency reduction, and game specific rendering integrations. Modern Warfare 4 will likely attract the most attention, but Galactic Racer and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 may be equally useful demonstrations of how Dynamic Multi Frame Generation behaves across very different workloads.

Which game are you testing first with NVIDIA Driver 617.42, Modern Warfare 4, Star Wars Galactic Racer, Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, or Valor Mortis?
