The Sinking City 2 Update 1.1.0 Brings Over 150 Fixes, HDR and PS5 Pro Support

Frogwares has released Update 1.1.0 for The Sinking City 2, delivering more than 150 fixes and improvements across gameplay, performance, stability, graphics, puzzles, combat, and localization. The major free update also adds HDR support, AMD FSR 4.1.1, PlayStation 5 Pro enhancements, changes to Ex Oblivione, new outfits, and a returning Steam demo that now allows players to carry their progress directly into the full game. Frogwares has also published an official update and accolades trailer showcasing the latest version of its Lovecraftian survival horror.

According to the official Update 1.1.0 patch notes, HDR output is now supported on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, alongside HDR10+ support and an in game brightness calibration tool with peak brightness adjustment up to 500 nits. PC players also gain multi monitor HDR support, AMD FSR 4.1.1 in the video settings, and a Legacy mode for NVIDIA DLSS. Frogwares also addressed a visual problem that could occur when disabling DLSS while playing at 4K or 1440p.

PlayStation 5 Pro receives its own significant technical upgrade with PSSR upscaling support. Quality mode now features strand based hair, improved Lumen lighting, and higher quality reflections, while Performance mode operates at a higher internal rendering resolution. This gives PS5 Pro owners a more substantial visual upgrade than a simple resolution adjustment and brings the console version closer to the higher end presentation available on capable gaming PCs.

Frogwares has also reworked several combat encounters following player feedback. "The Wake Up Call," "A Sight for Sore Eyes," "Time and Tide," and "Cold Comfort" now feature reduced enemy counts and lighter wave compositions in encounters considered excessively demanding. Explosive objects are easier to identify, the Grenade Launcher deals increased damage, explosive gas cans are more powerful, and the delay before a Slither weak point becomes vulnerable has been reduced. A substantial number of enemy behavior issues have also been addressed, including creatures becoming stuck, failing to attack correctly, freezing during combat, or interacting incorrectly with the environment.

Performance and stability receive extensive attention as well. Frogwares has improved frame rates across multiple locations in Cold Comfort and fixed hitching around specific areas in A Sight for Sore Eyes, The Wake Up Call, and Holloway Manor. The patch addresses performance drops when opening the Examine screen, low frame rates after VRAM becomes fully utilized with automatically detected settings, and hitching when collecting new items while Frame Generation is active. Several crashes have also been fixed, including problems when changing graphics presets, launching a session using DLSS Frame Generation presets, and progressing through several major encounters.

Update 1.1.0 also expands the replay experience. Inventory slot upgrades and weapon upgrades can now carry into Ex Oblivione, while duplicate upgrades reward Dream Essence instead. Players who want a complete restart can use the new Pure New Game option after completing the story. Calvin also receives 2 additional outfits, The Warlock and The King in Yellow, with dedicated wardrobe preview images. Numerous puzzle, map, visual, animation, lighting, localization, and interface issues have been corrected throughout the game.

The update also marks the return of the The Sinking City 2 Steam demo. The demo introduces players to the beginning of Calvin Rafferty's journey through Arkham and includes exploration of the Miskatonic University Library. Most importantly, save progress can now transfer directly into the full game, giving PC players a much more practical way to test performance and gameplay before purchasing. PlayStation Plus and Xbox players also have access to trial options on their respective platforms.

The return of the demo coincides with the first major wave of discounts for The Sinking City 2 since its 8/18/2026 launch. The current and upcoming promotion schedule covers PlayStation 5, Steam, and Xbox Series X|S, including the Steam Scream Festival and Xbox Shocktober promotion. Steam is offering all editions at 20% off through 10/8/2026, while Xbox begins a 20% Standard Edition promotion on 10/8/2026.

PlayStation 5 9/23 to 10/7 10% Standard Edition Completed
PlayStation 5 10/7 to 10/21 15% Premium Edition Current
Steam 10/1 to 10/8 20% All Editions Current

Xbox Series X|S 10/22 to 11/4 20% Premium Edition Shocktober

Update 1.1.0 feels less like a routine maintenance patch and more like Frogwares addressing the most important friction points that emerged after launch. The combination of encounter rebalancing, performance work, HDR, FSR 4.1.1, PS5 Pro support, and more than 150 individual corrections should make this the strongest version of The Sinking City 2 so far. Bringing the Steam demo back at the same time is particularly smart because players can now evaluate the game's performance on their own hardware and continue the same save if they decide to purchase it.

For a survival horror title where atmosphere, lighting, responsiveness, and carefully controlled combat pressure are central to the experience, many of these improvements directly affect how the game feels rather than simply cleaning up minor technical issues.

Have you already explored The Sinking City 2, or does the new 1.1.0 update and returning demo make this the right time for you to enter Arkham?
