Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition Adds Echoes of Sekigahara Story Expansion and Most Wanted Mode for 14.99 USD

Sony Interactive Entertainment and Sucker Punch Productions have officially announced Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition, a major expansion of Atsu’s adventure that introduces a new narrative chapter, a single player combat survival mode, additional equipment, cosmetics, trophies, accessibility improvements, and more. According to the official PlayStation Blog, the new content will begin rolling out on October 1, 2026, almost exactly 1 year after Ghost of Yōtei originally launched on PS5.

The biggest addition is Ghost of Yōtei: Echoes of Sekigahara, a new narrative expansion split between the present and flashbacks exploring Atsu’s time on mainland Japan. Players will meet Nagato, an important figure from Atsu’s past who has arrived in Ezo, while the present day storyline takes Atsu into a previously unseen valley once inhabited by The Snake and his followers, known as the Vipers. The historical chapters will revisit Atsu’s involvement in the Battle of Sekigahara and reveal a major moment in her life before she returned home to begin her quest for vengeance. New enemies, heavy weapons, armor sets, dyes, and other equipment will also be introduced.

Sucker Punch is also adding Ghost of Yōtei: Most Wanted, a new single player combat survival mode built around the studio’s interpretation of a roguelike structure. Players accept bounties to begin new runs, defeat enemies to earn perks, and gradually unlock additional playable characters. Atsu uses dual katana, Oyuki specializes in the kusarigama, while newcomer Nagato fights using a yari, giving each character a different combat identity and potentially opening the game to more build experimentation than the main campaign.

Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition will cost 69.99 USD and includes the original game, Echoes of Sekigahara, Most Wanted, and Ghost of Yōtei Legends, the cooperative multiplayer experience supporting up to 4 players. It also bundles the previous Digital Deluxe Edition content and the Charm of Hokkyokusei. Players who already own Ghost of Yōtei can instead purchase the Complete Edition Upgrade for 14.99 USD, which grants access to Echoes of Sekigahara and Most Wanted alongside the additional Complete Edition content.

Purchasing the Complete Edition or upgrade by September 30 will also provide an early unlock of the Sakai Armor on October 1, bringing Jin Sakai’s iconic family armor from Ghost of Tsushima into Atsu’s wardrobe. The Complete Edition additionally introduces new music for Watanabe Mode, new Photo Mode stamps, extra New Game Plus cosmetics, and new trophies connected to both Echoes of Sekigahara and Most Wanted.

Even players who choose not to purchase the 14.99 USD upgrade will receive additional features through patch version 2.0. The free update introduces Beauty of Yōtei, a screensaver style mode that displays the landscapes of Ezo and can also be used to capture new Photo Mode images. Quality of life improvements include the ability to retain the visual appearance of one armor set while using the statistics of another, effectively introducing a transmog style option, alongside a new high contrast accessibility setting.

The announcement is particularly interesting after Sucker Punch previously confirmed that the Ghost of Yōtei Legends Raid was its final major planned update for the multiplayer experience. Rather than extending Legends indefinitely, the studio is now shifting its post launch focus back toward substantial single player content while simultaneously giving combat focused players a replayable alternative through Most Wanted.

There is one regional detail to keep in mind. Sucker Punch states that patch version 2.0 will become available on October 1, 2026 globally, but October 2, 2026 in some territories including Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. An internet connection and PlayStation account will also be required to download the update.

A 14.99 USD upgrade is a surprisingly aggressive price considering that Sucker Punch is combining a full narrative expansion with a new replayable survival mode and several additional systems. Echoes of Sekigahara also gives the studio an opportunity to explore Atsu beyond her original revenge storyline, while Most Wanted could provide the type of repeatable combat experience that keeps skilled players engaged after finishing New Game Plus. Instead of stretching Legends into a long term live service, Sucker Punch appears to be building multiple distinct ways to extend Ghost of Yōtei, which fits the franchise considerably better.

For 14.99 USD, are Echoes of Sekigahara and Most Wanted enough to bring you back to Ghost of Yōtei, or would you have preferred another major expansion for Legends?
