Sucker Punch Confirms Ghost of Yotei Legends Raid Was the Final Major Planned Update

Sucker Punch Productions appears ready to move forward after confirming that the Raid update for Ghost of Yotei Legends was the final major planned content update for the multiplayer mode. The confirmation came through a recent PlayStation Blog interview focused on the creation of the Raid, its endgame structure, and how the studio designed the final chapter of the Yotei Six storyline.

Ghost of Yotei Legends follows the legacy of Ghost of Tsushima Legends, which became a surprise success after giving players a supernatural cooperative multiplayer experience built around teamwork, class synergy, difficult encounters, and raid based progression. With Ghost of Yotei, Sucker Punch returned to that formula, giving players another multiplayer mode that expanded the game’s world beyond the main single player campaign.

The latest Raid update served as the endgame of Ghost of Yotei Legends, placing players against the last 2 supernatural members of the Yotei Six, The Dragon and Lord Saito. According to lead designer Darren Bridges, the Raid was built around 4 player cooperative challenges, puzzle solving, enemy pressure, and boss encounters that require coordination and build planning. The studio wanted to create difficult content, but with more accessible pacing than the original Ghost of Tsushima Legends Raid.

"The Raid update was our last major planned update for Legends."

That statement does not technically eliminate the possibility of a smaller future patch, balance adjustment, or unexpected update. However, it clearly indicates that Sucker Punch does not currently have another major content drop planned for Ghost of Yotei Legends. The Raid also completes the multiplayer story arc of the Yotei Six, meaning the mode has now reached its planned narrative endpoint.

For players who are still enjoying Ghost of Yotei Legends, the mode will remain playable. The lack of future major content does not mean the multiplayer experience is being removed or abandoned from an access standpoint. Players can continue replaying missions, experimenting with builds, running the Raid, and pushing through the mode’s cooperative endgame with friends.

Still, the decision may feel disappointing for fans who expected Ghost of Yotei Legends to receive a longer content roadmap. The mode launched on March 10, 2026, around 6 months after Ghost of Yotei’s original release, and its final major planned update has now been confirmed only 2 months later. Compared with the lasting impact of Ghost of Tsushima Legends, this gives Ghost of Yotei Legends a noticeably shorter active content window.

From a development strategy perspective, the decision also makes sense. Sucker Punch has traditionally focused on 1 major project at a time, and the studio may already be entering the early development phase of its next title. With Ghost of Yotei now released and Legends having reached its planned endpoint, the team can shift resources toward its next creative milestone.

The bigger question is what comes next. Sucker Punch could continue the Ghost franchise with a third entry, potentially introducing another protagonist, another historical period, and a new setting. Ghost of Tsushima and Ghost of Yotei have both shown that the studio can build emotionally grounded historical action games with cinematic presentation, strong combat, and rich world design. A third Ghost title would be a natural path if PlayStation wants to keep the franchise moving.

At the same time, longtime PlayStation fans continue to hope that Sucker Punch may eventually return to one of its dormant franchises. InFamous remains the obvious name in that conversation, as the superhero action series still has a strong legacy among PlayStation players. A modern InFamous built for current PlayStation hardware would give the studio a very different creative opportunity, especially after years of working in grounded historical worlds.

The studio is also entering a new era after co founder Brian Fleming retired at the end of last year. That leadership transition adds another layer of uncertainty around Sucker Punch’s next move, but it also gives the team room to define its next phase. Whether that means another Ghost title, a new original IP, or a return to InFamous, the studio’s next project will carry high expectations.

For now, Ghost of Yotei Legends ends its major content cycle with the Raid serving as its final planned update. It may not have received the longer runway some players wanted, but it completes the Yotei Six storyline and gives cooperative players a final endgame challenge to master. The focus now shifts to what Sucker Punch is building next.

Would you rather see Sucker Punch continue with a third Ghost game, or is it time for the studio to finally bring back InFamous?
