Gears of War E Day PC Requirements Target 4K 60 FPS With an RTX 5070 Ti
The Coalition has published the final PC requirements for Gears of War E Day ahead of its October 6 launch, and the hardware targets are relatively measured for a major Unreal Engine 5 release built around hardware ray tracing. An RTX 2060 or Radeon RX 6600 is enough to enter at 1080p Medium, while the Ultra target calls for an RTX 5070 Ti or Radeon RX 7900 XT for 4K at more than 60 FPS. There is an important condition behind those numbers, however. Every performance tier assumes the use of DLSS, FSR, TSR, or XeSS rather than native resolution.
The final specifications arrive after months of optimization across the multiplayer testing period. The Coalition previously detailed how Gears of War E Day is being rebuilt around Unreal Engine 5, DirectX 12, Lumen, MegaLights, Nanite, and modern reconstruction technologies, something we see at its DLSS 4.5 and ray tracing implementation. The finished PC targets now give a clearer idea of what that technology will actually demand from players.

Key PC Features
- Upscaling Technologies: NVIDIA DLSS 4.5, AMD FSR 4, Intel XeSS 3.0t
- Ray Tracing: Hardware ray traced reflections, shadows, and global illumination
- Benchmarking: Built in benchmark mode with advanced PC settings
- Display Support: HDR and ultrawide monitor support
The recommended tier is arguably the more interesting part of the specification sheet. The Coalition targets 1440p at more than 60 FPS and High settings with hardware as old as an RTX 3060 Ti or Radeon RX 6700 XT, paired with a Ryzen 5 5600 or Core i5 11600K. Ultra raises the CPU requirement considerably to a Ryzen 7 7800X3D or Core i7 14700K, but the GPU target stops at the RTX 5070 Ti and RX 7900 XT rather than requiring the fastest cards currently available.
That does not necessarily prove exceptional optimization before independent benchmarks arrive. The performance chart does not state which upscaling quality mode is being used at each resolution, making it difficult to compare these targets directly with games measured at native resolution. Still, providing 60 FPS targets across all 3 tiers is more useful than the vague minimum and recommended lists that many PC releases still publish.
Hardware ray tracing is also mandatory. The final specification sheet explicitly says GPUs without dedicated ray tracing hardware are unsupported, which helps explain why relatively old processors remain acceptable while graphics cards such as NVIDIA GTX models do not. Gears of War E Day uses hardware ray traced reflections, shadows, and global illumination, with the PC version also supporting DLSS 4.5, AMD FSR 4, Intel XeSS 3.0, Unreal Engine TSR, a built in benchmark, HDR, and ultrawide displays.
There is one small storage discrepancy worth noting. The new final launch graphic specifies a 115 GB SSD requirement, while the current Steam system requirements still list 130 GB of available storage. The final specification sheet appears to reflect the newer requirement, but keeping additional SSD capacity available would be sensible with updates and installation overhead.
Gears of War E Day has now gone gold, with preinstallation beginning September 29. Premium Edition owners receive access from October 1, while the worldwide release follows on October 6 for Xbox Series X|S and PC, including Steam, Xbox on PC, Game Pass Ultimate, and PC Game Pass.
The specifications are encouraging, but the upscaling requirement is the detail that matters most. An RTX 5070 Ti targeting 4K Ultra at more than 60 FPS sounds unusually accessible for a visually ambitious Unreal Engine 5 game, but these are reconstructed resolution targets rather than confirmed native 4K performance.
The more meaningful result may be the RTX 3060 Ti and RX 6700 XT remaining viable for 1440p High. If independent testing confirms consistent frame pacing and good image quality at that tier, The Coalition will have delivered something increasingly important for PC gaming: a modern visual showcase that does not immediately push several generations of capable hardware aside.
Does the RTX 3060 Ti target for 1440p make Gears of War E Day look well optimized to you, or are you waiting to see native resolution benchmarks and frame time testing first?
