Crimson Desert DLC Adds Marriage, Castles, Shipbuilding and Business Management on October 29

Pearl Abyss has revealed an extensive gameplay overview for Crimson Desert Enhanced: Charting the Unknown, showcasing a major expansion arriving on October 29, 2026. The upcoming DLC introduces ocean exploration, shipbuilding, underwater adventures, romance and marriage, customizable housing, castle ownership and business management, significantly expanding the activities available throughout the open world of Pywel.

The new Features Overview trailer highlights additional storylines for Kliff, Damiane and Oongka, introducing new allies, enemies and individual adventures. One of the expansion's largest additions is the Great Ocean of Pywel, a new explorable region featuring islands, hostile factions and underwater environments. Players can construct and customize ships, establish additional strongholds and explore sunken ruins in search of treasure, resources and new creatures.

Beyond exploration, Charting the Unknown introduces several gameplay systems focused on character progression and life simulation. Players can develop relationships with selected NPCs, eventually leading to romance and marriage, while expanded housing customization allows them to construct homes and claim liberated castles.

Crimson Desert Charting the Unknown Features

Feature New Content
Story Expansion 3 new storylines featuring Kliff, Damiane and Oongka
Ocean Exploration New islands, underwater ruins, creatures and treasure
Shipbuilding Construct, purchase and customize ships for ocean travel
Romance and Marriage Build relationships with NPCs and unlock marriage
Housing Design homes with customizable walls, windows and interiors

Business Management Rent facilities, assign comrades and manage commercial operations
Garden of Trials Challenge previously encountered bosses in consecutive battles

According to Pearl Abyss, several activities require specific progression milestones. The 3 new character storylines become available after completing the main campaign, while ocean adventures and shipbuilding are tied to the Howling Hill storyline and establishing the Greymane Camp. Underwater exploration, however, is accessible without additional prerequisites, although diving equipment can extend the time players spend beneath the surface.

Business management introduces another economic layer to the game, allowing players to operate establishments such as restaurants and smithies across liberated regions. These facilities can generate profits through assigned comrades, equipment and selected merchandise. Meanwhile, Garden of Trials offers combat focused players a new challenge by combining powerful bosses into consecutive encounters with special rewards.

The expansion follows Pearl Abyss's extensive support for Crimson Desert since its March 19 launch, including numerous gameplay improvements, additional mounts, equipment and customization options. Originally scheduled for October 15, the DLC was postponed to October 29 to provide additional development time for optimization and stability.

Charting the Unknown will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store, with a listed US price of $24.99. Preorders include exclusive diving equipment for all 3 protagonists. The expansion becomes available on October 29 at 22:00 UTC,.

Charting the Unknown appears to be more than a traditional story expansion. By combining maritime exploration with romance, housing construction and business management, Pearl Abyss is transforming Crimson Desert into a broader sandbox experience that extends beyond its established combat and exploration systems.

The addition of castle ownership and economic activities could significantly increase long term engagement, particularly for players interested in creating their own progression goals outside the main storyline. However, the expansion's success will depend on how deeply these systems interact with the existing world rather than simply increasing the number of available activities. At $24.99, Charting the Unknown offers an ambitious feature set, but its overall value will ultimately depend on the quality and depth of its execution.

Which new feature are you most excited to experience in Crimson Desert: marriage and relationships, castle ownership, running your own business or exploring the Great Ocean?
