Crimson Desert Charting the Unknown Delayed to October 29
Pearl Abyss has delayed Crimson Desert Enhanced: Charting the Unknown by 2 weeks, moving the expansion from its previously announced October 15 release date to October 29, 2026. The studio says the additional development time will be used to improve polish and stability before players return to Pywel.
The change comes less than 1 month after Pearl Abyss officially revealed the expansion during the September State of Play. As we covered when Charting the Unknown was originally announced for October 15, the DLC expands Crimson Desert with new adventures involving Kliff, Oongka and Damiane, alongside maritime exploration, ships, underwater environments and additional story content.
"We have determined that we need additional development time to deliver a more polished and stable gameplay experience."

Pearl Abyss confirmed that the delay is specifically 2 weeks rather than an open ended postponement. The new global rollout begins on October 29 at 22:00 UTC, with North America receiving the expansion at 15:00 PT and 18:00 ET. Europe follows at 23:00 CET, while players in Korea and Japan will technically receive the DLC on October 30 at 07:00 KST and JST.
The new date also places Charting the Unknown directly into one of the busiest gaming windows of the month. S Game's Phantom Blade Zero is scheduled for the same general release period, launching on October 29 across many regions, although its exact availability varies by territory and platform. The PlayStation Store currently lists October 29, while the official PlayStation announcement notes October 28 availability in the United States and select regions.
That means the overlap is better viewed as a shared launch window rather than both releases unlocking everywhere at exactly the same time. For players interested in large scale action RPGs, however, the competition for playtime remains clear. Charting the Unknown asks existing Crimson Desert players to return to Pywel for a major expansion just as Phantom Blade Zero introduces an entirely new action RPG built around fast combat and Wuxia inspired martial arts.
Preorders for Charting the Unknown originally opened in September across PlayStation Store, Steam, Epic Games Store and Microsoft Store. Pearl Abyss has not announced any changes to the expansion itself as part of the delay, with the current statement focused on additional development and refinement ahead of release.
A 2 week delay is relatively small, particularly for an expansion introducing major new environments and gameplay systems, but the new date creates a considerably more competitive launch window. For Crimson Desert players already invested in Pywel, Charting the Unknown remains a substantial reason to return. The bigger question is now where players divide their time when another major action RPG arrives almost simultaneously.
Will you return to Pywel for Charting the Unknown on October 29, or will Phantom Blade Zero take priority during that launch window?
