Yarnhub Studios Debuts First Gameplay for Brass Rain, a Realistic Free to Play WWII Shooter

Yarnhub Studios, known primarily for its large scale historical animation work on YouTube where the channel has amassed more than 2.7 million subscribers, has officially unveiled the first gameplay look at Brass Rain, the studio’s debut video game and an ambitious free to play WWII first person shooter.

Brass Rain marks Yarnhub’s transition from animation to interactive development, backed by 2.9 million dollars in community driven crowdfunding. The studio is composed of industry veterans with backgrounds at EA, Remedy, Sony, and Jagex, applying AAA discipline and realistic visual direction to elevate the authenticity of the experience.

In the accompanying announcement, CEO David Webb noted that the move into game development was a direct response to the demands of the existing Yarnhub fanbase. He emphasized that the community has long requested a historically grounded military experience that captures global scale conflict across infantry, armor, aviation, and naval combat. Brass Rain, he said, is designed from the ground up to address that vision with a player centric approach.

The new gameplay showcase highlights the combined arms structure that Yarnhub aims to deliver, featuring boots on the ground infantry engagements, vehicle crew systems, gunnery positions, and coordinated multi role combat across land, sea, and air. Cyril Barrow, head of games at Yarnhub Studios, underscored that the community specifically challenged the team to go beyond the scope of titles such as War Thunder and World of Tanks by providing a complete crew based combat environment that integrates infantry operations directly into the battlefield ecosystem.

According to the studio, Brass Rain will adopt a free to play business model supported by what it describes as “some of the lowest cost cosmetic microtransactions in gaming.” While pricing validation will ultimately depend on the early access rollout, Yarnhub asserts that the approach is built with community trust in mind rather than aggressive monetization.

Brass Rain is planned to launch in early access on Steam in 2026, where Yarnhub expects to expand systems, refine gameplay balance, and scale the experience based on live player feedback. For a studio whose foundation was built on delivering historical narrative content to millions, this shift into interactive WWII combat places Yarnhub in an interesting strategic position as it enters a highly competitive genre with a deeply engaged audience already aligned behind its brand.
