PUBG: Black Budget Closed Alpha Begins Next Month and Sign Ups Are Now Live
Krafton and PUBG Studios have officially announced that PUBG: Black Budget, the new extraction shooter set within the broader PUBG universe, will begin its first closed alpha test in December. The title, currently in development for PC, invites players into a PvPvE sandbox where survival, tactical extraction, and supernatural elements collide.
Players eager to be among the first to try the game can now request access directly on the Steam page. While registering does not guarantee entry, it places applicants into the selection pool for one of the limited alpha slots. The testing will take place over two sessions, with the first running from December 12 to 14 and the second from December 19 to 21.

PUBG: Black Budget is set on Coli, an island trapped in a recurring time loop and slowly being consumed by a mysterious supernatural force known as the Anomaly. Players will navigate both human and non human opponents as they attempt to extract top secret technology, piece together the truth behind the Anomaly, and uncover the hidden initiative known as SAPIENS.
It is a compelling narrative framework for an extraction shooter, but ultimately, as fans of the genre know, long term player engagement depends heavily on gameplay depth, encounter design, gear progression, and replayability. With ARC Raiders currently leading the extraction genre surge, Krafton and PUBG Studios are under pressure to deliver a compelling and differentiated gameplay loop if they aim to retain an audience in an increasingly competitive space.
Black Budget’s alpha will serve as the first real test of whether the game can establish that foothold. Meanwhile, Krafton continues navigating the ongoing legal conflict with the founders of Unknown Worlds over the development of Subnautica 2, a case that has taken several unexpected turns this year and remains under active industry scrutiny.
