Horizon Steel Frontiers Isn’t The Only Horizon Multiplayer Game Guerilla Has In Development
Guerilla Games and NCSoft have officially revealed Horizon Steel Frontiers, the long rumored Horizon based MMORPG coming to PC and mobile within the next few years. But while this announcement finally confirms years of speculation, it is not the only multiplayer Horizon title in active development.
Although many earlier rumors referenced a possible Horizon multiplayer experience, most of that speculation was actually tied to Steel Frontiers. According to Jason Schreier, however, Guerilla is simultaneously developing a completely separate multiplayer Horizon project.
“Just to clear up some confusion I have seen,” Schreier wrote in a post on Bluesky, “the newly announced NCSoft Horizon MMO is different from the multiplayer Horizon game that is in development at Guerilla Games. That one is Guerilla’s next big project.”

Unlike Horizon Steel Frontiers, which is being developed in partnership with NCSoft and is launching on PC and mobile rather than PS5, this second project from Guerilla will almost certainly include Sony’s console in its release plans. It is still expected to be multi platform, likely launching on both PS5 and PC in alignment with Sony’s broader live service strategy.
Now that Steel Frontiers has been formally unveiled, speculation is rising around when Guerilla will reveal its next project. The studio has repeatedly expressed long term commitment to the Horizon franchise. Studio director Jan Bart van Beek stated only a few years ago that Guerilla has “scores of ideas” for where to take the series, with new multiplayer experiences being just one of several strategic directions.
With two multiplayer Horizon games now confirmed to be in development in parallel, it is clear that Sony sees the franchise as a cornerstone for its evolving live service roadmap.
