The Blood of Dawnwalker Shows Off the Second Part of Its Gameplay Overview
This afternoon, Polish developer Rebel Wolves released the second part of the gameplay overview for its debut title, The Blood of Dawnwalker. The showcase delivers nearly thirty minutes of material that is new to the public, offering a deeper look into the game’s systems and narrative driven design.
The newly published gameplay overview video highlights how dramatically a quest can change based on whether players approach it during the day or at night. This design stems from the nature of the protagonist, Coen, the titular Dawnwalker who is half man and half vampire. For example, in the featured mission, Coen can casually enter a cathedral during daylight, while at night he must rely on vampiric traversal techniques such as Planeshift and Shadowstep to infiltrate the location.
Exploration also varies significantly depending on the time of day. Coen’s vampiric abilities fully manifest after sunset, bringing increased mobility and enhanced combat performance. Even basic sword swings become faster in vampiric form, and players can choose between using claws or swords when transformed. These systems reinforce what Rebel Wolves refers to as a “narrative sandbox,” a core vision distinguishing The Blood of Dawnwalker within the open world action RPG space.
Rebel Wolves, a studio created by former CD Projekt RED developers known for their work on The Witcher III: Wild Hunt and Cyberpunk 2077, confirmed several improvements implemented following community feedback from previous trailers. A new camera option provides a more distant perspective, and players can now adjust camera behavior independently for exploration and combat.
The Active Abilities menu no longer pauses the game, allowing all ability selections to occur in real time. Combat pacing and animations have also been refined to deliver a smoother and more immersive experience.
The Blood of Dawnwalker is currently slated for a 2026 release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S|X. With Grand Theft Auto VI expected to dominate industry attention in November 2026, many developers including Rebel Wolves may aim to release ahead of that window.
