Red Dead Redemption Is Coming to PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Mobile Next Month

Shortly after a new ESRB rating hinted that Red Dead Redemption would be heading to current generation consoles, Rockstar has officially confirmed the news in its announcement post. Both the base game and its Undead Nightmare expansion will launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on December 2, 2025, with the added surprise of iOS and Android versions arriving the same day.

Players who already purchased Red Dead Redemption on PS4 or Xbox One will receive the upgrade at no additional cost. This new native current-gen build runs at 4K resolution and 60 FPS with HDR support and enhanced image quality on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Rockstar also published a new trailer showcasing the upgraded visuals and performance.

In addition to the free upgrade for existing owners, PlayStation Plus Extra subscribers will be able to access the title beginning December 2 when it joins the PS Plus Extra catalog. Players with a GTA+ subscription will also gain access through the program on supported platforms.

As for the mobile editions, the game will be available through the App Store and Google Play. Netflix subscribers will also be able to play the full title directly through the Netflix app as part of the service’s expanding game library.

This marks the long awaited first appearance of Red Dead Redemption on modern consoles with a proper native release, giving players a chance to revisit the classic Western at ideal resolution and frame rates. However, one lingering question remains: Rockstar still has yet to deliver a native PS5 or Xbox Series X/S version of Red Dead Redemption 2, leaving fans hopeful but waiting.
