Ubisoft Debuts Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora – From the Ashes Expansion, Arriving December 2025
Ubisoft has officially announced From the Ashes, the first major expansion for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, arriving on December 19, 2025 across all platforms. The expansion returns players to Pandora’s western frontier in a darker and more personal story, timed to release on the same day as James Cameron’s next film in the series, Avatar: Fire and Ash.
The announcement trailer showcases the tonal shift, as From the Ashes explores a grimmer side of Pandora. Ubisoft confirmed that the expansion will integrate new gameplay features, including the highly requested third-person mode that arrives in the base game on December 5, just two weeks prior to the expansion’s release.
The story follows So’lek, a Sarentu Na’vi warrior, who awakens after an ambush in which the Ash Clan allied with the RDA to attack him and his people. Consumed by grief and rage, So’lek embarks on a brutal mission of revenge to save his family and deliver justice to those who betrayed him.
“With From the Ashes, we wanted to push the boundaries of what players can experience on Pandora,” said Omar Bouali, Creative Director at Massive Entertainment. “This expansion delivers a darker, more personal story, enhanced immersion via both the first- and third-person gameplay, and intense new combat mechanics that deepen the emotional and tactical stakes.”
Josua Izzo, Executive Vice President of Franchise Development at Lightstorm Entertainment, added: “Our partnership with Massive Entertainment has allowed us to expand this universe in bold new ways. This new expansion, From the Ashes, will release the same day as the theatrical debut of Avatar: Fire and Ash, a film that explores darker corners of Pandora and introduces the formidable Ash People. We’re equally excited for Avatar fans to experience untold stories through new interactive adventures.”
The expansion is also being framed as a cross-media event. On the same day audiences head to theaters for Avatar: Fire and Ash, they’ll also be able to continue the narrative by stepping into From the Ashes on their consoles or PC.

From the Ashes will be available as a standalone expansion for $24.99 USD. Newcomers will also be able to purchase a bundled From the Ashes Edition that includes both the base game and the expansion for $39.99 USD.
