The Game Awards 2025 Will Showcase Many Upcoming Titles, But Not The Witcher 4

Fans eager to return to the Continent will need to wait a little longer, because The Witcher 4 will not appear at The Game Awards 2025 next month. While CD Projekt RED’s next major RPG is nominated for the Most Anticipated Game category, it will not receive any new trailers or content during the event.

The update comes directly from CD Projekt RED joint chief executive officer Michał Nowakowski, who published a message on X expressing gratitude for the nomination while setting expectations for the show.

“I am very happy to see The Witcher 4 nominated in the Most Anticipated Game category at The Game Awards. Thanks to everyone who has already voted. Your support means a lot to us. We will not be bringing any new content to TGA this year, but we are excited to watch the show and celebrate this amazing industry’s great night alongside all of you,” he wrote.

For those closely following development, this will not be surprising news. Earlier this year, CD Projekt RED stated that The Witcher 4 would not see release until 2027. During the Q and A session of the studio’s recent third quarter financial results, Nowakowski reiterated that the game is absolutely not launching in 2026.

This means fans will likely need to look toward The Game Awards 2026 as the earliest opportunity for a major trailer or gameplay reveal as the project continues its long production cycle. Meanwhile, other studios have begun confirming attendance at this year’s show. Sci fi RPG Exodus, for example, has confirmed that it will debut a new trailer during the event.

The Game Awards 2025 is shaping up to be packed with updates from major publishers, but Geralt’s legacy will remain unseen for another year as CD Projekt RED continues its focused development roadmap.

Are you willing to wait until 2026 for the first major Witcher 4 trailer, or do you think CD Projekt RED should start showing earlier previews
