The Witcher 3 Revenge of Ofir Fan Expansion Targets 2027 Alongside Songs of the Past
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is preparing for an unusually active 2027. Alongside CD Projekt RED and Fool’s Theory’s official Songs of the Past expansion, a group of international modders has revealed Revenge of Ofir, an ambitious unofficial expansion that will take Geralt of Rivia into a completely new region inspired by the mysterious kingdom previously referenced throughout The Witcher universe.

Revenge of Ofir takes place following the events of Blood and Wine. Geralt has settled into retirement at Corvo Bianco, but another crisis pulls him away from Toussaint and toward Ofir after the kingdom’s heir dies under mysterious circumstances. The project will introduce a completely new region alongside new enemies, equipment, side quests, monster contracts, nonlinear story decisions, and even another Gwent card.
The expansion is being created using CD Projekt RED’s official The Witcher 3 REDkit, which gives modders access to a reworked version of REDengine 3 and tools capable of editing environments, quests, characters, animations, dialogue, and many other elements of the original game. CD Projekt RED released REDkit publicly in 2024 specifically to give the community substantially greater freedom to build new Witcher experiences.
Revenge of Ofir is also aiming for production values considerably beyond a typical quest mod. The developers confirmed that the expansion will feature complete Polish voice acting, with Jacek Rozenek, the official Polish voice of Geralt throughout the games, returning to portray the White Wolf. An English voice cast has not been confirmed.
The team currently targets 2027, although no specific release date has been announced. Selected content creators are expected to receive an early preview build before launch, giving players a more detailed look at the expansion while development continues.
That timing places Revenge of Ofir alongside an even larger official return for Geralt. CD Projekt RED has confirmed that The Witcher 3 Songs of the Past will launch during 2027 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The third official expansion is being co developed with Fool’s Theory and is already at an advanced stage of production. The Witcher 3 has now surpassed 65 million copies sold, giving CD Projekt one of the largest potential audiences possible for Geralt’s unexpected return.
CD Projekt RED will provide another look at Songs of the Past during Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 25, with the company officially telling fans to expect a glimpse of the expansion during the presentation.
Revenge of Ofir demonstrates exactly why releasing REDkit was such an important long term decision for The Witcher 3. A new region, professional voice acting, original quests, monsters, equipment, and branching choices would have been extremely difficult for community developers to produce at this scale before CD Projekt RED opened its development tools.
The timing is also almost perfect. Songs of the Past will officially bring Geralt back more than a decade after The Witcher 3 launched, while Revenge of Ofir could give PC players another substantial adventure during the same year. If both projects deliver on their ambitions, 2027 could genuinely become another major year for a game originally released in 2015.
Which Witcher 3 expansion are you more excited to play in 2027, the official Songs of the Past or the community created Revenge of Ofir?
