Tetsuya Nomura Confirms Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 and Kingdom Hearts 4 Are “On Schedule”
During a recent Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis livestream, Tetsuya Nomura, one of Square Enix’s most prominent directors, offered brief but reassuring updates on two of the studio’s most anticipated projects: Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 and Kingdom Hearts 4.
According to a translation by Aitaikimochi, Nomura confirmed that both games are “on schedule.” While he refrained from going into detail, he hinted that Square Enix already has a timeline in place for the next major Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 announcement.
“So, regarding Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3, you see, Toriyama supposedly said we will have news around the time of the second anniversary of Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis. We are making great progress on the game, and I can’t say anything else… We already have decided when we will make the announcement as well, and we will stick to that time schedule. So don’t worry, but please wait for it.”
I translated Nomura’s quote from the FF7EC stream regarding FF7 Remake Part 3 and Kingdom Hearts 4.

This statement suggests that fans won’t be left in the dark for much longer, and the possibility of an announcement aligning with the Ever Crisis second anniversary now seems more likely. Given that Part 2: Rebirth launched earlier this year, it is encouraging to know that progress on the trilogy’s conclusion appears steady.
Nomura also addressed Kingdom Hearts 4, which was first announced more than three years ago but has since received very few updates. “On that same note, I’m seeing a lot of comments asking about Kingdom Hearts 4. We are making great strides and going according to schedule. So please wait for more information on that.” Unlike Remake Part 3, Nomura did not imply that a reveal date or announcement window is set, though the reassurance that development is on track will calm concerns.
With previous reports suggesting the conclusion of the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy might not arrive until 2028, Nomura’s comments offer some hope that the timeline may be shorter than feared. Fans will now be watching closely for the anniversary window mentioned, while Kingdom Hearts enthusiasts will likely have to wait longer for their next major update.
Do you think Square Enix can deliver Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 sooner than expected, or will we still be waiting until the late 2020s?
