Team17 and Expression Games Announce Hell Let Loose: Vietnam, Coming in 2026

Team17 and developer Expression Games have officially announced Hell Let Loose: Vietnam, a new entry in the acclaimed tactical shooter franchise. Revealed during the Future Games Show, the game is scheduled to arrive on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S in 2026, though a specific release date has not yet been confirmed.

Expanding Tactical Warfare to the Vietnam War

Building on the success of the original Hell Let Loose, which immersed players in massive World War II battles, Hell Let Loose: Vietnam shifts the action to the Vietnam War, spanning the years 1965 to 1973. The game retains the franchise’s signature 50v50 large-scale battles and tactical, teamwork-driven gameplay, emphasizing strategy, communication, and squad-based coordination.

The setting introduces new dynamics for players, transporting battles into Vietnam’s dense jungles, winding riverways, and underground tunnel networks. Six maps are confirmed, each designed to capture the chaos and intensity of the war.

Expression Games is expanding the formula with several new mechanics and units tailored to the Vietnam War setting:

  • Helicopter support troops, offering aerial mobility and combat support.

  • Patrol boats, bringing naval combat into the mix across river-based maps.

  • Tunnel construction and combat, allowing North Vietnamese forces to dig, fight, and surprise opponents underground.

These additions promise to significantly change tactical approaches, requiring squads to adapt strategies to vertical, amphibious, and subterranean warfare.

Despite the ambitious new entry, Expression Games confirmed that development of Hell Let Loose: Vietnam will not come at the expense of the original Hell Let Loose. Ongoing content updates and support for the World War II game will continue in parallel with the Vietnam project.

The announcement marks a bold step forward for the series, evolving its large-scale, realism-focused combat while bringing players into one of the most iconic and challenging conflicts of the 20th century.

Do you think the addition of helicopters, river patrol boats, and tunnels will take Hell Let Loose: Vietnam to the next level, or do you prefer the grounded World War II setting of the original?
