Sugon N50 Pro Claims World’s First 64 Thread Mobile Workstation With 128 GB RAM
Chinese computing company Sugon has revealed the N50 Pro, a mobile workstation the company describes as the world’s first in its category with a 64 thread processor. The system is positioned for professional computing, engineering workloads, and local AI, combining an unusually high CPU thread count with up to 128 GB of memory, 8 TB of storage, and discrete graphics with 16 GB of dedicated VRAM. Sugon has not disclosed the exact CPU or GPU models, making the processor architecture one of the biggest unanswered questions surrounding the system.
The processor can reach up to 4.3 GHz in single threaded workloads, while Sugon claims a fluid dynamics simulation that previously required 2.4 hours can be completed in approximately 1 hour on the N50 Pro. Reports have suggested that a Hygon C86 series processor using SMT4 could explain the 64 thread configuration, potentially allowing 4 threads per physical core, but Sugon has not officially confirmed the processor model or core configuration. This distinction is important because current premium mobile processors such as the 16 core, 32 thread Ryzen 9 9955HX remain limited to 32 threads under conventional SMT2 designs.
The unidentified discrete GPU includes 16 GB of VRAM and is listed with frequencies reaching 3.3 GHz. Sugon demonstrated the system running a 35B Mixture of Experts model at more than 50 tokens per second, highlighting local AI as another major target for the platform. High memory capacity is becoming increasingly important across portable workstations, with systems such as the HP ZBook Ultra 14 and ASUS ProArt P14 RTX Spark also reaching 128 GB memory configurations through very different architectures.
Despite its workstation specifications, the N50 Pro measures only 16.9 mm thick and weighs approximately 1.69 kg. It features a 4K 120 Hz display with a 93% screen to body ratio and claimed Delta E below 1 color accuracy, alongside support for multiple 4K displays and data transfer speeds reaching the 10 Gbps class. Sugon has not announced pricing or a commercial release date, and current information indicates the machine is primarily intended for the Chinese market.
The 64 thread specification is impressive, but the real story will depend on what silicon is actually inside the N50 Pro. Without confirmed CPU and GPU models, direct performance comparisons against AMD, Intel, or NVIDIA powered mobile workstations remain premature. Still, fitting 64 CPU threads, 128 GB of memory, and 16 GB of dedicated graphics memory into a 1.69 kg chassis shows how aggressively Chinese workstation manufacturers are pushing portable professional computing.
