STALKER-Like MMOFPS Pioner to Host Open Beta in October

Developer GFA Games has announced that its upcoming MMOFPS Pioner will hold an Open Beta test in October 2025, ahead of its planned PC release later this year. Console versions are expected to arrive at a later date.

The game, which has drawn comparisons to the STALKER series for its post-apocalyptic aesthetic and survival-driven gameplay, was previously featured during June’s Steam Next Fest. Following that limited-time test, GFA Games outlined a series of gameplay adjustments, particularly focusing on PvP balance and technical refinements.

Based on player feedback, the development team is implementing several key changes ahead of the Open Beta:

  • Capture Point Mode: Redesigned to feel more like a classic “Capture the Flag” experience, reducing the excessive time needed to secure objectives.

  • Point Naming: Control points will now be labeled A, B, and C to improve navigation and communication.

  • Enemy Visibility: Special visualization effects will be introduced in Team Deathmatch to make enemies stand out more clearly, alongside lighting adjustments.

  • Player Movement: Fixes for desynchronization that caused jittery movement in allies and enemies.

  • Hit Registration: Continued refinement of the netcode to reduce missed hits and incorrect kill/death outcomes.

  • Hit Collision: Improved hitbox accuracy on environmental objects to prevent unfair interactions.

  • Weapon Balance: Ongoing adjustments to PvP weapon balance based on community feedback.

Pioner has built anticipation for its mix of MMO systems, PvP, and PvE survival mechanics in a hostile open world. With its Open Beta scheduled for October, players will soon have another chance to dive into GFA Games’ vision before the full launch later this year.

Will you be joining Pioner’s Open Beta in October, or are you waiting to see how it stacks up against STALKER 2 when it releases?
