Riot’s Fighting Game 2XKO to Launch Early Access on October 7

Riot Games has officially announced the launch date for the early access version of 2XKO, its long-awaited 2v2 fighting game set in the League of Legends universe. 2XKO will open its gates to all PC players on October 7, 2025, coinciding with the conclusion of the currently ongoing Closed Beta test.

According to Riot, the newest playable champions, Vi and Blitzcrank, have been quickly embraced by fans, who wasted no time in organizing community tournaments throughout the Closed Beta. Riot developers said they have been fine-tuning matchmaking, fixing bugs, and ensuring stability during testing, and now feel confident enough to move forward with early access.

The early access launch will introduce Combo Trials, a full season of content, and permanent unlocks. Starting October 7, there will be no more resets, giving players a sense of progression that carries forward. Riot also confirmed that the game will feature five seasons throughout 2026, with each season introducing a new champion, Ranked reset, Battle Pass, and more. With early access, 2XKO’s tenth champion will debut on October 7. A dedicated gameplay reveal trailer and developer update are also on the way.

As expected from Riot Games, a competitive roadmap is already in place. The studio has announced the First Impact Program, through which it will sponsor 22 community-run tournaments in 2025. The first of these events will be EVO France, running from October 10 to October 12. Each First Impact tournament will receive a bonus from Riot, with an additional prize pool for duo champions.

Previously known as Project L, the game is led by the Cannon brothers, the developers behind the indie fighting game Rising Thunder. Riot gave the project its final name, 2XKO, in February 2024, alongside confirmation of a 2025 release window for both PC and consoles. While the early access debut will be limited to PC, console versions are still in development.

2XKO is a free-to-play 2v2 fighting game featuring iconic League of Legends champions. Players can team up with or against friends in dynamic tag-based battles, mastering unique assist and combo mechanics to secure victory in fast-paced, explosive showdowns.

Are you planning to jump into early access on October 7? Which champion are you hoping gets added in 2026?
