Octopath Traveler 0 and The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales Receive New Trailers Ahead of TGS 2025

Ahead of the annual Tokyo Game Show 2025, Square Enix has released two new trailers for Octopath Traveler 0 and The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales, providing fresh looks at two of its upcoming HD-2D titles. Octopath Traveler 0 is scheduled to launch this December, while The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales is set for release in 2026.

The Octopath Traveler 0 trailer, offers a glimpse into the game’s story and setting, taking players back to the continent of Orsterra to experience a tale of beginnings. This prequel will feature several new gameplay mechanics, including the ability to customize the main playable character, new town-building features, and an enhanced turn-based combat system that allows players to bring eight characters into battle at once, doubling the four-character limit from the first two entries in the series.

While very different in style and gameplay, The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales promises to offer plenty to fans of classic role-playing games, enhanced by Square Enix’s signature HD-2D visuals. The new trailer, shared today, provides an overview of its action-oriented gameplay, evoking a modernized take on the classic top-down ARPG formula reminiscent of older Legend of Zelda entries.

Scheduled for release sometime in 2026, The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales was not showcased in a new build at Gamescom 2025, but Square Enix did provide hands-on access to Octopath Traveler 0. Though my time with the game was limited, it was enough to appreciate the enhancements made to the formula, particularly the expanded combat party system that significantly broadens gameplay possibilities.

Octopath Traveler 0 launches on December 4, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S. The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales is expected in 2026.

Are you more excited for the expanded party battles in Octopath Traveler 0 or the action RPG style of The Adventures of Elliot?
