ONEXPLAYER 3 Launches With Intel Arc G3 Extreme Starting at 1,399$

ONEXPLAYER has launched the ONEXPLAYER 3 through Indiegogo, introducing one of the first premium gaming handhelds powered by Intel Arc G3 Extreme. The device combines an 8.8 inch AMOLED display, detachable controllers, a magnetic keyboard, an 85 Wh battery, and a modular design that allows it to function as a handheld, tablet, or compact laptop.

The ONEXPLAYER 3 campaign offers 3 configurations. The entry model includes 24 GB of memory and 512 GB of storage for 1,399$. A 24 GB and 1 TB version costs 1,499$, while the highest model includes 32 GB of memory and 1 TB of storage for 1,699$.

Intel Arc G3 Extreme combines 14 CPU cores with Arc B390 integrated graphics and a maximum operating power of 35 W. The platform also includes a 46 TOPS NPU and support for Intel XeSS 3, hardware ray tracing, AV1 encoding, and DirectX 12 Ultimate. The 32 GB model uses faster LPDDR5X memory at 8533 MT/s, which should help the integrated GPU by providing greater shared memory bandwidth.

The 8.8 inch AMOLED screen runs at 1920 by 1200 with a variable refresh rate from 30 Hz to 144 Hz. ONEXPLAYER also claims a peak HDR brightness of 1,100 nits, a 1 ms response time, complete DCI P3 coverage, and a 1,000,000 to 1 contrast ratio. These specifications make the display one of the device’s strongest features, especially for darker games, colorful independent releases, and titles that benefit from HDR.

The detachable controllers allow the center unit to operate as a tablet, while the magnetic keyboard converts it into a small laptop for browsing, writing, and general work. Early campaign packages include the keyboard, controller connector, and protective bag.

Battery capacity reaches 85 Wh, although ONEXPLAYER’s claim of more than 25 hours applies to light office testing rather than gaming. Demanding games running at 35 W, high brightness, and 144 Hz will reduce endurance significantly. Cooling, fan noise, driver quality, and low power efficiency will therefore be just as important as the specifications.

Intel has been working to challenge AMD’s strong position in Windows gaming handhelds, with Intel designed Arc G3 specifically around portable gaming, including better drivers, XeSS support, precompiled shaders, and stronger power management. The ONEXPLAYER 3 is appealing because its modular design, AMOLED display, and large battery give it a clear identity. The 1,399$ starting price remains its biggest obstacle, especially when buyers can find capable gaming laptops or less expensive AMD handhelds for similar money.

The hardware looks promising, but ONEXPLAYER and Intel still need to prove that Arc G3 Extreme can deliver consistent frame rates, stable drivers, good battery life, and a polished Windows experience. At this price, strong specifications alone will not be enough.

Would you pay 1,399$ for the ONEXPLAYER 3, or would you choose a cheaper handheld or gaming laptop?
