New Dino Crisis Trademark Filed in Brazil, Hinting at Possible Revival
The long-dormant Dino Crisis franchise may finally be preparing for a comeback. A new trademark has been filed in Brazil, sparking speculation that Capcom could be working on a revival of the survival horror series that fans have been demanding for years.
As reported by Brazilian outlet REVIL, the new Dino Crisis trademark was submitted to the National Institute of Industrial Property on July 3, 2025. Importantly, this filing is distinct from the original 1999 trademark for the first game. It also coincides with Capcom’s Resident Evil Requiem registration, both falling under the same “entertainment and video games” class, suggesting the publisher may be preparing new projects within both franchises.
This could indicate that Capcom isn’t simply protecting its IP, but is actively considering new uses for the series. Whether this points to a new mainline entry, a remake, or even a modern remaster—similar to the treatment given to Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny—remains unclear.
The Brazilian filing follows similar activity earlier this year in Japan, where Capcom re-registered the Dino Crisis trademark. Traditionally, such moves are not only legal protections but also early steps before reviving or reusing an IP. Capcom followed this exact pattern with Onimusha before announcing its return, adding credibility to speculation about Dino Crisis making a comeback.
The timing is also notable, as Capcom has been steadily reviving and modernizing its classic franchises. With successful remakes of Resident Evil entries and updates for Onimusha and Okami, Dino Crisis is a natural candidate for reintroduction, especially given fan demand.
Earlier this year, Capcom also re-released the first two Dino Crisis games on GOG, featuring significant technical updates:
Improved DirectX renderer with support for modern resolutions up to 4K
Anti-aliasing, V-Sync control, gamma correction, integer scaling
Enhanced geometry calculation and smoother animations
Updated video and music playback
Cloud save support and modern quality-of-life improvements
These modernized re-releases kept the games accessible to fans, but the new filings suggest Capcom has bigger plans in store for Regina’s dinosaur-filled adventures.
For now, fans will have to wait for official confirmation, but between the Japanese and Brazilian trademarks, plus the success of Capcom’s other revivals, the odds of a Dino Crisis revival seem higher than ever.
