NASCAR 25 Developer iRacing Studios to Launch New IndyCar Game Series, First Entry Coming in 2026
iRacing Studios, the developer of the upcoming NASCAR 25 Steam page, has officially announced that it will develop and publish a brand-new series of IndyCar racing games for PC and consoles. The first title in the series is slated to launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S in 2026.
The announcement was made through a press release on iRacing’s official website, revealing that iRacing.com Motorsport Simulations and IndyCar have signed a long-term licensing agreement to bring a dedicated IndyCar game series to players worldwide.
This marks the first major standalone IndyCar game in over two decades, a huge moment for motorsport fans who have been asking for a fully licensed title for years.
“INDYCAR fans have long been clamoring for a standalone title for consoles, and we’re excited to give them what they’re looking for in 2026,” said Tony Gardner, president of iRacing.com Motorsport Simulations. “iRacing Studios’ standalone INDYCAR title will offer all the excitement of the NTT INDYCAR SERIES and an immersive experience that fans of all ages can enjoy. We are already very excited about how the game is coming together.”
IndyCar president J. Douglas Boles echoed that sentiment, saying:
“The most competitive and challenging racing on the planet deserves a dedicated and widely available gaming experience. iRacing Studios is the ideal partner for us, trusted and known to our core fans and ready to share our sport with a wider and highly engaged audience.”
According to iRacing, the game will include:
Licensed vehicles and drivers from the NTT INDYCAR SERIES and INDY NXT
Online multiplayer modes
A career mode where players can climb the ranks of IndyCar
Development powered by iRacing Studios’ proprietary Orontes engine, delivering realistic racing physics and visuals
Gardner further noted that while the IndyCar game will have its own dedicated development team, it will also integrate elements from other iRacing products, including advanced car and track assets, simulation-grade driving characteristics, and core technology.
While Forza Horizon and Gran Turismo dominate the arcade and sim-racing markets respectively, iRacing’s DNA has always leaned toward pure simulation. This suggests the upcoming IndyCar title will emphasize authentic racing dynamics and cater strongly to motorsport enthusiasts.
With NASCAR 25 launching this October and the IndyCar game slated for 2026, it’s clear that iRacing is positioning itself as a major force in licensed motorsport gaming. For racing fans, the timing couldn’t be better, as global interest in motorsport continues to rise alongside the release of high-profile racing films and growing mainstream attention to competitive racing.
