Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2 “Is Moving Forward Properly,” Says Producer
With Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater now in players’ hands, attention has quickly shifted to what’s next for the franchise, and for many fans, that means Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2.
During the Metal Gear Production Hotline panel at Tokyo Game Show 2025, the inevitable question arose: where is Vol. 2?
Translated by Kuwabara357 on X, series producer Noriaki Okamura addressed fans’ curiosity. While he didn’t provide a release window, he reassured players that development is ongoing:
“It has certainly taken quite a while now. Since we called the first installment ‘Vol. 1,’ it’s only natural to expect a second one, and that’s what we said years ago. But, as we’ve repeated several times, we are making it. We’ve been working on it properly while also producing Metal Gear Solid Delta. At the right timing, we’d like to share with you all not only about its progress but also the direction going forward. I’m sorry, it feels like I always have to say this, but please wait just a little longer. How long ‘a little longer’ actually means, well, it’s hard to say. But the project is moving forward properly, and we believe it’s shaping up to be something enjoyable really. So please, wait just a bit more, more information is coming.”
Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1 launched nearly two years ago, bundling the original Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater alongside earlier MSX entries.

Rumors for Vol. 2 suggest the lineup could include:
Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
If true, this would explain the lengthy development timeline.
One of the largest hurdles is MGS4, originally built for the PlayStation 3’s notoriously complex CELL architecture. Porting and enhancing the 17-year-old game for modern consoles and PC is no small feat. Still, fans note that the RPCS3 emulator has managed to run MGS4 on PC for years, suggesting Konami could achieve the same with official resources.
Konami remains cautious with details, but Okamura’s reassurance confirms that Vol. 2 is still alive and actively in development. Considering the scale of the rumored titles, it may be some time before fans see it—but patience could pay off with one of the most highly anticipated collections in modern gaming.
Which games do you think Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2 should include, and how should Konami handle MGS4’s PS3 legacy?
