Physics-Based Mars Rover Building Sim Mars First Logistics Launches Out of Early Access

After more than two years of early access, Mars First Logistics, the physics-based rover construction and transport simulator developed by Shape Shop and published with support from Outersloth (the publishing and creator fund arm of Among Us developer Innersloth), has officially launched on Steam its v1.0 release.

The game first entered early access on June 22, 2023, and quickly gathered attention for its creative, physics-driven mechanics that let players design their own Mars rovers to navigate the red planet. Now, with the release of v1.0, the game expands its universe with fresh content and long-awaited features:

  • A new explorable area on Mars.

  • 10 new endgame contracts to challenge players.

  • Seven additional language options for global accessibility.

  • New rover parts to expand creative building options.

  • Ongoing polish and quality-of-life improvements.

At its core, Mars First Logistics is about creativity and problem-solving. Players construct rovers using over 100 modular parts and then take on the task of transporting cargo across Mars’ rough terrain. Balancing loads, avoiding topples, and creatively tweaking your machine for different challenges become part of the experience.

The game also expands beyond vehicle building, allowing players to establish and upgrade a Mars shelter, giving a sense of progression as you create a livable home on the planet while continuing to refine your rover designs.

Interestingly, Mars First Logistics launches in the same week as Baby Steps, a quirky physics-based adventure from the creators of Ape Out and Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy. While Baby Steps originally shifted its release date to avoid clashing with Hollow Knight: Silksong, it has now landed side by side with Mars First Logistics, a title far closer in genre, creating a unique face-off between two physics-heavy indie experiences.

With its combination of engineering creativity, exploration, and survival challenges, Mars First Logistics offers something unique for fans of physics-based gameplay and space exploration alike.

Would you rather spend your time stumbling through the world of Baby Steps or mastering rover engineering on Mars?
