Marvel’s Venom Reportedly Still in Development at Insomniac Games

Insomniac Games is reportedly still developing its unannounced Marvel’s Venom game, despite months of uncertainty surrounding the project and the studio remaining publicly focused on Marvel’s Wolverine. Industry insider NateTheHate provided the latest update after being asked whether Venom could appear at The Game Awards 2026 or during a future PlayStation presentation.

"Venom is very much still in development upon last check. As to when it'll be announced, I don't know."

The statement does not provide a release window, platform, or announcement schedule, and Sony Interactive Entertainment and Insomniac Games have still not officially announced Marvel’s Venom. The project originally became public through information exposed during the major Insomniac data breach in December 2023, where internal planning material referenced a standalone Venom title positioned between Marvel’s Spider Man 2 and Marvel’s Spider Man 3.

Those original plans are clearly outdated. Internal material reportedly targeted the game for 2025, but that date passed without an announcement. Any previously leaked development timeline should therefore be treated as historical planning rather than evidence of the project's current launch window.

Questions surrounding Venom intensified earlier in 2026 when Miles Morales actor Nadji Jeter suggested that the planned standalone game had been cancelled following the death of Tony Todd, who voiced Venom in Marvel’s Spider Man 2. Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier subsequently disputed that account, while another verified developer said the project had still been discussed around GDC 2026.

NateTheHate's latest information now adds another indication that development has continued, but details surrounding the game's current form remain unconfirmed. Previous reports have claimed that Eddie Brock could become the symbiote host and that Carnage may play an important role, although neither Insomniac nor Marvel Games has publicly verified those story details.

For now, Insomniac's attention is firmly on Marvel’s Wolverine, which launches for PlayStation 5 on September 15, 2026. The game represents the studio's next major Marvel release and could leave Insomniac in a stronger position to discuss its future projects once Wolverine is on the market.

The important distinction is that Marvel’s Venom appears to still exist internally, but almost everything beyond that remains uncertain. Its original leaked release schedule is obsolete, Sony has never officially announced the game, and there is currently no reliable launch window.

With Marvel’s Wolverine only days away, Insomniac has little reason to divide attention between 2 major Marvel projects. If Venom remains part of the studio's roadmap, the period following Wolverine's release would provide a much cleaner opportunity for Sony to begin talking about what comes next.

Until then, the latest report is encouraging for Venom fans, but it should be viewed as confirmation from an insider that development continues rather than an indication that an announcement is imminent.

Would you prefer Insomniac's next Marvel game to be a focused Venom experience or a full Marvel’s Spider Man 3?
