Lords of the Fallen II Gets Debut Trailer at Gamescom 2025, Release Window Still Set for 2026
CI Games unveiled the first cinematic trailer for Lords of the Fallen II during Gamescom Opening Night Live 2025, confirming that the dark fantasy sequel is still targeting a 2026 release for PC (Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Players can now wishlist the title on all platforms.
A Community-Driven Sequel
Marek Tyminski, CEO of CI Games, emphasized the studio’s renewed focus on its players, stating:
“After selling over 2 million units and welcoming over 5.5 million Lampbearers into Lords of the Fallen, it’s clear our comeback was community-powered. With Lords of the Fallen II, we’re going further. In 2024 we proudly announced our deep commitment to be a player-first studio. The V2.0 update was our promise in action: listen, respond, and deliver. This sequel is built on that same foundation.”
The sequel promises to expand upon its predecessor’s grim Soulslike formula while integrating direct community feedback.
Key Features Highlighted by CI Games
Dual Worlds: Two fully explorable parallel realms, including a deadlier, expanded Umbral.
Full Co-op Progression: Complete shared campaign progression in online co-op available from day one.
Player-First Design: Optional PvP, custom game modifiers, and other features shaped by player input.
Visceral Combat: Brutal executions, extreme gore, and a mature-rated experience with unapologetic intensity.
Unreal Engine 5: Upgraded visuals and combat mechanics pushing the franchise into true next-gen territory.
Gamescom 2025 Celebration – Tattoos and Art
To celebrate the reveal, CI Games is running an unusual promotion at Gamescom: the Tattoo Sanctum, where attendees can get franchise-inspired tattoos (both permanent and henna) for free. For those unable to attend, a sweepstakes offers a unique reward — a one-of-a-kind canvas of The Scion, painted by artist Maxime Taccardi using his own blood, serving as a visceral tribute to the series’ trademark brutality.
Although Lords of the Fallen II is not playable at Gamescom this year, CI Games executives are present at the event and will be sharing additional insights into the sequel’s development.
With a cinematic debut and a promise to double down on community-driven features, CI Games is positioning Lords of the Fallen II as a defining chapter in the series — aiming to be, in the studio’s words, the “Empire Strikes Back” moment for the franchise.
Do you think Lords of the Fallen II has what it takes to stand out in the crowded Soulslike genre, especially with its expanded co-op and dual-world design?
