Lenovo Legion Go 2 Announced With AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme, 32 GB LPDDR5X-8000 Memory, and 1200P OLED Display
Lenovo is preparing to launch its next-generation handheld gaming device, the Legion Go 2, an upgraded successor to the original Legion Go. According to details shared by industry insider Evan Blass (@evleaks), the new handheld will feature AMD’s latest Ryzen Z2 and Ryzen Z2 Extreme processors, expanded memory options, improved display technology, and a larger battery.
Hardware and Performance Upgrades
At the core of the Legion Go 2 are AMD’s newly introduced handheld processors:
Ryzen Z2 Extreme: Based on the Zen 5 architecture with integrated RDNA 3.5 graphics (16 CUs).
Ryzen Z2: Based on Zen 4 architecture with RDNA 3 graphics (12 CUs).
Both processors pack 8 cores and 16 threads, but the Z2 Extreme is positioned as the flagship option, delivering higher efficiency and performance for demanding titles.
The device also includes:
Memory: Up to 32 GB LPDDR5X-8000, a major jump from the 16 GB LPDDR5X-7500 in the original Legion Go.
Storage: 1 TB PCIe SSD, with additional support for up to 2 TB microSD expansion.
Cooling: Redesigned thermal solution with a larger fan, dual exhaust vents (bottom and back), and manual fan control options.
Display Enhancements
The Legion Go 2 introduces a 31.5-inch OLED display with the following specs:
Resolution: 1200p native
Refresh Rate: Up to 144Hz
Brightness: 500 nits with HDR True Black 1000 support
Aspect Ratio: 16:10
Orientation: Native landscape mode
This marks a shift from the 1600p IPS display used in the first-generation Legion Go, trading slightly lower resolution for OLED’s superior contrast and HDR capabilities.
Ergonomics and Features
The Legion Go 2 retains the detachable joystick design, enabling multiple use modes:
Handheld mode
Tablet mode
Laptop-like experience with FPS stick and dock
Other improvements include:
Fingerprint reader located on the rear for quick authentication.
Battery capacity upgraded to 74Whr (up from 49.2 Whr).
65W AC Adapter included for fast charging.
I/O Options
Connectivity has also been expanded with:
2x USB 4.0 Type-C ports (DP 2.0 + PD 3.0)
3.5mm combo audio jack
microSD card reader
Pricing and Availability
While Lenovo has yet to confirm launch timing or pricing, industry estimates suggest the Legion Go 2 will debut in the $700–$800 range, similar to the launch pricing of the original Legion Go with Ryzen Z1 Extreme. More details are expected soon as Lenovo prepares the device for retail rollout.

With its Ryzen Z2 Extreme performance boost, 32 GB high-speed memory, OLED display, and improved thermals, the Lenovo Legion Go 2 is shaping up as one of the most versatile handheld gaming devices yet. By offering detachable controls and multi-use flexibility, it aims to challenge competitors like the Steam Deck, ASUS ROG Ally, and AYANEO.
Do you think the Legion Go 2’s upgrades, especially the OLED screen and Ryzen Z2 Extreme, will give Lenovo the edge in the growing handheld market?
