NVIDIA Reportedly Cutting RTX 5060 Ti and RTX 5060 Supply to Maintain Pricing

NVIDIA is once again being linked to artificial supply adjustments in its GeForce RTX 50 series lineup. According to a report from Channel Gate via IT Home, the company has allegedly reduced shipments of the RTX 5060 Ti and RTX 5060 GPUs to board partners in order to stabilize pricing and avoid market oversupply.

Supply Cuts to Prevent Price Drops

The report claims NVIDIA has initiated:

  • 15% supply reduction for the RTX 5060 Ti

  • Up to 30% supply reduction for the RTX 5060

The cuts appear to be temporary and are designed to ensure that board partners (AIBs) are not forced to lower prices due to an excess of inventory. By tightening supply, NVIDIA and its partners can maintain profit margins and prevent undercutting in the competitive budget GPU segment.

Both the RTX 5060 Ti and RTX 5060 are built on the GB206 GPU, targeting the budget to lower mid-range gaming market. These cards are among the most in-demand in NVIDIA’s 50-series lineup, particularly the RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB, which has become a sweet spot option for gamers.

The supply cut is said to only impact the 8 GB RTX 5060 Ti, while the 16 GB variant remains unaffected. This ensures NVIDIA can keep its more attractive SKU in stock while limiting oversupply of lower-capacity models.

NVIDIA has been known to manipulate GPU supply in the past to prevent price erosion. In fact, similar measures were reportedly taken just two months ago when RTX 50-series cards became more widely available at retailers.

The immediate effect of this strategy will likely be stable or rising retail prices for the RTX 5060 series, particularly if demand remains strong. While this protects margins for NVIDIA and its partners, it risks further alienating gamers who have already expressed frustration with higher GPU pricing in recent years.

Globally, some RTX 50-series GPUs are already selling at inflated prices compared to their launch MSRPs. A continued pattern of supply management could push these prices even higher, especially in regions with limited retail competition.

The duration of the supply cuts remains unclear, though the report emphasizes the change will be temporary. Still, with NVIDIA already increasing its share of the discrete GPU market, the company appears confident in leveraging demand for its 50-series cards to maintain a firm pricing structure.

Do you think NVIDIA’s strategy of cutting supply to control prices is justified, or is it hurting gamers who are looking for affordable upgrades?
