Keanu Reeves Would “Absolutely” Return as Johnny Silverhand in Cyberpunk 2077 Sequel

CD Projekt RED may be years away from releasing the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, but one of the most iconic faces of Night City is already eager to return. In a recent interview with IGN while promoting his new film Good Fortune, Keanu Reeves confirmed that he would “absolutely” reprise his role as Johnny Silverhand in the sequel.

“Absolutely. I’d love to play Johnny Silverhand again,” Reeves said.

For fans who finished Cyberpunk 2077, Johnny’s fate raises questions about how Reeves could return. However, flashbacks, alternate timelines, or even new narrative twists could provide a way for CD Projekt RED to bring back the rebellious rockerboy.

The sequel, still in early pre-production, is internally codenamed Project Orion. Earlier this year, Cyberpunk creator Mike Pondsmith revealed that the new setting felt “like Chicago gone wrong,” hinting at a shift in location that will distinguish it from Night City while keeping the dark, dystopian atmosphere intact.

With Reeves’ enthusiasm to return and CDPR’s renewed focus after the success of Phantom Liberty, anticipation is already building. While the sequel is still years away, the potential of seeing Johnny Silverhand again adds another layer of excitement for fans of the franchise.

Would you like to see Johnny Silverhand return in a major role, or do you prefer a new story without him at the center?
