GMKtec NEO X1 Pro Packs Ryzen 9 9955HX3D and RTX 5070 Into a 14.6 Liter Chassis

GMKtec has introduced the NEO X1 series, a new line of compact gaming desktops combining AMD Ryzen 9000HX mobile processors with desktop NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 Series graphics cards. The flagship NEO X1 Pro places a Ryzen 9 9955HX3D and GeForce RTX 5070 with 12 GB of GDDR7 memory inside a 14.6 liter chassis, with launch pricing starting at 16,499 yuan, approximately $2,438.

The standard NEO X1 uses the Ryzen 9 9955HX with a GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 8 GB and starts at 11,999 yuan, approximately $1,773. The Pro configuration upgrades both major components, adding AMD 3D V Cache through the Ryzen 9 9955HX3D and increasing graphics performance through the desktop RTX 5070.

The Ryzen 9 9955HX3D provides 16 Zen 5 cores, 32 threads, boost frequencies reaching 5.4 GHz, and 144 MB of total cache. Although originally designed for premium gaming laptops, GMKtec is using the processor within a MoDT platform, combining mobile silicon efficiency with the cooling capacity and graphics flexibility of a desktop system.

The GeForce RTX 5070 includes 12 GB of GDDR7 memory and gives the NEO X1 Pro a stronger foundation for 1440p gaming, ray tracing, content creation, and NVIDIA DLSS technologies than the RTX 5060 Ti 8 GB used in the standard model. The desktop graphics card is particularly notable because many compact systems rely on laptop GPUs with lower power limits.

GMKtec has equipped the 14.6 liter system with integrated liquid cooling, a 13 phase power design, and support for up to 160W of processor power. It also includes an 850W fully modular Gold rated power supply, 2 PCIe Gen 5 SSD slots, 2.5 GbE networking, and Wi Fi 7. Front connectivity shown so far includes 2 USB Type A ports and 1 USB Type C connection, although the complete rear port selection has not been detailed.

GMKtec plans to sell the NEO X1 series through JD.com in China. However, the systems had not appeared on the retailer when the initial announcement was published, and final memory and storage configurations remain undisclosed. GMKtec has also not announced international pricing or availability.

The NEO X1 Pro follows GMKtec’s continued expansion beyond traditional mini PCs. The company recently introduced the EVO X3 as a compact AI workstation with the Ryzen AI Max Plus 395. The NEO X1 series shifts that strategy toward enthusiast gaming by pairing compact hardware with replaceable desktop graphics.

The NEO X1 Pro is better described as a compact gaming desktop than a conventional mini PC. At 14.6 liters, it is larger than GMKtec’s usual systems, but that additional volume allows the company to install a desktop RTX 5070, liquid cooling, and an internal 850W power supply without moving to a traditional tower.

The Ryzen 9 9955HX3D is also a practical choice for this format. It delivers 16 cores and 3D V Cache gaming performance while requiring less motherboard space than a normal desktop AM5 platform. The tradeoff is that processor upgradeability may be more limited than it would be in a standard desktop build.

At approximately $2,438, the NEO X1 Pro is clearly positioned as a premium compact system. Its value will depend on the final RAM and SSD configuration, cooling performance, operating noise, and whether international pricing remains close to the Chinese launch price.

Would you choose the compact NEO X1 Pro over a larger custom gaming desktop with the same Ryzen 9 and RTX 5070 performance level?
