GMKtec EVO X1 Pro Launches With Ryzen AI 9 HX 470 for $1,599
GMKtec has launched the EVO X1 Pro, a premium mini PC powered by AMD’s Ryzen AI 9 HX 470 processor. The system starts at $1,599.99 with 64 GB of memory and a 1 TB SSD, while a second configuration increases storage to 2 TB. GMKtec is also offering a temporary $20 launch discount.
The Ryzen AI 9 HX 470 combines 12 CPU cores and 24 threads through 4 Zen 5 cores and 8 Zen 5c cores, reaching boost frequencies of up to 5.2 GHz. Its XDNA 2 NPU delivers up to 55 TOPS, while total processor AI performance reaches 86 TOPS across the CPU, GPU, and NPU. Graphics are handled by the Radeon 890M with 16 compute units operating at up to 3.1 GHz.
GMKtec includes its Claw software platform for local AI agents and applications. The company positions the system for offline inference, AI assisted productivity, content creation, development work, and other workloads that can benefit from processing data locally rather than continuously sending it to cloud services.
The EVO X1 Pro includes 64 GB of onboard LPDDR5 memory operating at 6400 MT/s. The memory cannot be upgraded, but storage remains flexible through 2 M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 x4 slots supporting up to 16 TB in total. Buyers should therefore consider whether 64 GB will remain sufficient throughout the expected life of the system.
Expansion includes an OCuLink PCIe 4.0 x4 connection for an external graphics card, although GMKtec warns that the interface does not support hot swapping. Connectivity also includes USB4, HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 2.1, Wi Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and 2 2.5 Gb Ethernet ports. The system can drive 3 displays, with HDMI and DisplayPort supporting resolutions up to 8K at 60 Hz.
Cooling is managed through a vapor chamber and dual fan design. Users can select a 35 W silent mode, a 54 W balanced mode, or a performance mode reaching up to 65 W. The metal chassis measures 107 × 111 × 63 mm and weighs approximately 590 g.
The EVO X1 Pro joins a rapidly expanding selection of Ryzen AI 9 HX 470 systems. The previously announced PELADN AI 470 starts at $1,299 with 32 GB of memory and 1 TB of storage, giving buyers a less expensive alternative with the same processor and OCuLink expansion.
The EVO X1 Pro offers a strong combination of CPU performance, Radeon 890M graphics, local AI capability, and external GPU expansion inside a very compact chassis. Its main weakness is the $1,599.99 starting price, especially when competing systems offer the same Ryzen AI 9 HX 470 for less.
The fixed 64 GB memory configuration provides substantial capacity for productivity and local AI workloads, but the slower 6400 MT/s speed and lack of upgrades may limit its long term appeal. Real world cooling performance, fan noise, firmware support, and sustained 65 W operation will ultimately determine whether the premium pricing is justified.
