GIGABYTE Confirms Day One Support for New Intel LGA1700 CPUs Across B760 and H610

GIGABYTE has confirmed that its entire Intel B760 and H610 motherboard lineup will support upcoming LGA1700 processors expected to arrive in early 2027, extending the life of an Intel desktop socket first introduced with Alder Lake in 2021.

According to the official GIGABYTE announcement, the required BIOS updates are already available for both DDR4 and DDR5 versions of its B760 and H610 motherboards. Existing owners will therefore be able to update the BIOS and install the upcoming processors without replacing their motherboard or memory. GIGABYTE also claims it is the first motherboard manufacturer to provide support across its complete B760 and H610 portfolio.

The announcement is particularly notable because Intel has not yet formally introduced or named these processors. GIGABYTE only describes them as upcoming LGA1700 CPUs expected in early 2027, without providing specifications, model names, core configurations, clock speeds, power limits, or pricing.

The CPUs are widely expected to be connected to the previously reported Raptor Lake Next lineup. We previously covered Intel's reported plan to keep Raptor Lake and DDR4 systems active alongside Nova Lake, which could provide a lower cost option for users who want to avoid moving to a completely new motherboard and DDR5 platform. That earlier information remained unofficial, but GIGABYTE's BIOS announcement now provides concrete confirmation that new LGA1700 processors are indeed scheduled for 2027.

DDR4 compatibility could be one of the most important aspects of the strategy. GIGABYTE specifically confirms support across both DDR4 and DDR5 motherboard variants, allowing users with existing memory kits to retain substantially more of their current system during a CPU upgrade. This could make the platform particularly attractive to budget gaming systems, OEM builds, office PCs, and users prioritizing upgrade cost over adopting Intel's newest desktop architecture.

The announcement currently applies specifically to B760 and H610 motherboards. GIGABYTE does not mention Z790, Z690, or B660 in the release, so support for other LGA1700 chipset families should not be assumed until corresponding BIOS updates or additional announcements appear.

GIGABYTE says the update can also help retailers and system builders keep existing B760 and H610 inventory relevant into 2027 by reducing compatibility uncertainty around the upcoming processors. Users should still verify the exact BIOS version available for their motherboard through the GIGABYTE motherboard support pages before upgrading.

The most important part of GIGABYTE's announcement is not simply another BIOS update. It effectively confirms that Intel's LGA1700 platform is getting another generation of processors in 2027.

That makes considerably more sense in the current hardware market than it might have a few years ago. Keeping B760, H610, and especially DDR4 systems relevant gives Intel a lower cost path alongside newer platforms such as Nova Lake.

The remaining question is what these processors actually are. Until Intel publishes specifications, Raptor Lake Next remains the likely explanation rather than an officially confirmed product name.

Would you upgrade an existing LGA1700 DDR4 system with one of Intel's upcoming 2027 processors, or would you rather move to a completely new platform?
