Elden Ring Nightreign “Deep of Night” Mode Is Out Now
FromSoftware has released a free update for Elden Ring Nightreign, introducing the highly anticipated Deep of Night mode. Designed as an extreme endgame challenge, the new mode pushes even veteran players to their limits with unpredictable enemies, cursed weapon enhancements, and powerful new relics.
Deep of Night changes the rules of survival in Limveld. The Nightlord and Shifting Earth can remain hidden until the battle begins, stripping away the preparation that usually defines encounters. Standard enemies are now more dangerous, with random foes mutating into stronger variants. To balance the risk, players gain access to new weapon enhancements, though many come with dangerous drawbacks, such as amplifying the damage taken.
A new relic system is also part of the update. Depth Relics, which slot into three newly added relic slots, provide immense power boosts but, like the new weapon effects, can inflict serious costs. FromSoftware warns that only the most cautious and strategic Nightfarers will be able to withstand the mode’s escalating difficulty. The stakes rise even further with the possibility of facing an Everdark Sovereign Nightlord, an encounter billed as one of the most dreadful experiences in the game to date.
Elden Ring Nightreign has already proven itself a commercial success, selling five million copies in its first month, even if it has not yet reached the near-universal acclaim of its predecessor. Its predecessor’s expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree, crossed 10 million units sold, showing just how strong the Elden Ring franchise remains.
The series’ reach has even expanded into Hollywood. In late May, it was confirmed that a live-action film adaptation is in development, co-produced by A24 and Bandai Namco, with Alex Garland (Ex Machina, Annihilation, Civil War) attached as writer and director.
With Deep of Night now available, FromSoftware is giving players exactly what they expect: a brutal new test of endurance, strategy, and perseverance.
Will you brave the Deep of Night and risk the peril of an Everdark Sovereign Nightlord, or is this challenge too punishing even for veteran Tarnished?
