Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake Shows Off New Content in New Trailer

The upcoming Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake is shaping up to be the definitive way to experience the first two entries in Square Enix’s legendary RPG series. Featuring stunning HD-2D visuals and a host of new features, the remake modernizes the classics without sacrificing their original charm. A brand-new trailer has been released today, highlighting the additional content players can look forward to.

The new trailer on YouTube provides an overview of the enhancements. Among the most notable additions are brand-new dungeons to explore and the new Scrolls mechanic, which allows characters to learn new abilities. This addition is particularly important in Dragon Quest I, where only one character is playable, adding more variety to the gameplay.

Other features returning and expanded upon include the beloved Mini Medals collection mechanic, Ocean Floor exploration in Dragon Quest II, and more surprises that enhance both games while staying faithful to their roots.

Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake will launch worldwide on October 30, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S. However, this isn’t the only Dragon Quest release fans have to look forward to. Square Enix is also preparing Dragon Quest VII Reimagined, a remake of the seventh entry in the series, which is scheduled to release in early 2026 on PC and consoles.
