CXMT DRAM Revenue Surges 716% as China Challenges the Big Three
Chinese memory manufacturer CXMT became the fastest growing DRAM supplier during Q2 2026, with revenue increasing 716% from the same period last year. According to data reported by Wccftech, Counterpoint Research attributed the expansion to strong Chinese demand and rapidly increasing production capacity. Taiwan based Nanya Technology followed closely with revenue growth of 690%.
Samsung remained the largest DRAM manufacturer by revenue, controlling 39% of the global market during the quarter. SK hynix placed second with 26%, despite its revenue growing 214%, while Micron reached 25% and moved within 1 percentage point of overtaking SK hynix. The results show that CXMT is growing rapidly, but Samsung, SK hynix, and Micron continue to control the overwhelming majority of the worldwide DRAM industry.

CXMT already ranked as the fourth largest global DRAM manufacturer with approximately 7.7% market share during 2025. Its Q1 2026 revenue reached RMB 50.8 billion, approximately $7.5 billion, representing growth of 719% from the previous year. The company expects first half revenue between RMB 110 billion and RMB 120 billion, compared with RMB 61.8 billion for the entirety of 2025.
The company also completed a record STAR Market listing on July 27, raising approximately RMB 57.9 billion. CXMT plans to allocate the capital toward production line upgrades, more advanced DRAM processes, and future memory research. Its first day closing market capitalization reached approximately RMB 3.28 trillion after shares increased 465.8% from the offering price.
Expansion remains central to CXMT’s strategy. The company currently operates 3 major DRAM fabrication plants with combined monthly capacity of approximately 300,000 wafers. Additional projects in Shanghai, Hefei, and potentially Beijing could eventually increase production beyond 600,000 wafers per month, although the proposed second Beijing facility remains in early planning and financing discussions.

CXMT still faces a substantial technology gap in advanced memory, particularly HBM products used by AI accelerators. Samsung and SK hynix maintain leading HBM positions, while Micron is expanding its own supply. CXMT’s immediate strength remains conventional DRAM for smartphones, PCs, servers, and domestic Chinese customers, supported by government financing and demand for alternatives to foreign suppliers.
The company is nevertheless becoming more visible outside China. Corsair DDR5 modules have already been identified using CXMT chips, while PC manufacturers are reportedly securing additional CXMT supply as the global memory shortage extends toward 2027. CXMT is therefore evolving from a domestic alternative into a supplier capable of influencing global availability, qualification strategies, and pricing.
A 716% revenue increase is significant, but the percentage must be viewed against CXMT’s smaller starting position. The company has not displaced the established DRAM leaders, and its access to advanced manufacturing equipment remains constrained by export controls.
Its impact should still not be underestimated. CXMT is adding capacity while Samsung, SK hynix, and Micron prioritize HBM, server memory, and other high margin products. That creates an opportunity in consumer DDR5, mobile DRAM, and selected server segments where customers increasingly value guaranteed supply over loyalty to traditional manufacturers.
The decisive benchmark will not be one quarter of extraordinary revenue growth. CXMT must demonstrate competitive yields, reliability, platform compatibility, advanced process development, and sustainable access to manufacturing equipment. Achieving those objectives could transform the global DRAM market from a 3 company structure into a genuine 4 supplier competition.
