COLORFUL iGame X870E ULTRA-S V14 Launches at $283 With 5 M.2 Slots and DDR5 8400+ Support

COLORFUL has officially opened preorders for its iGame X870E ULTRA-S V14 motherboard, bringing enthusiast AMD AM5 features to a competitive starting price of 1,899 yuan, approximately $283. The motherboard combines a 19 phase power delivery system, DDR5 overclocking support beyond 8400 MT/s, 5 M.2 SSD slots, WiFi 7, and dual USB4 connectivity, positioning it as an affordable alternative to more expensive X870E gaming motherboards.

According to COLORFUL's official announcement, preorders began on October 19, 2026, through JD.com, ahead of China's November 11 Singles' Day shopping event. The 1,899 yuan price applies to the Chinese market, while international pricing and availability have not been announced.

The iGame X870E ULTRA-S V14 features an 8 layer low loss PCB and a 16+2+1 phase VRM configuration using 80A DrMOS power stages, FCC ferrite inductors, and 10K solid capacitors. An independent clock generator provides additional flexibility for CPU base clock adjustments, while COLORFUL's X3D AI High Frame Rate mode automatically optimizes Precision Boost Overdrive (PBO), temperature limits, and power settings for supported Ryzen X3D processors.

The motherboard also includes quick release mechanisms for its graphics card and M.2 SSDs, integrated M.2 heatsinks, BIOS Flashback and Clear CMOS controls, and onboard Power and Reset buttons. Its design follows COLORFUL's iGame Ultra aesthetic, featuring extensive heatsink coverage, stylized graphics, and customizable ARGB lighting.

The motherboard recently attracted attention after COLORFUL demonstrated 192 GB of DDR5 running at 6600 MT/s CL28 using an AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D processor and 4 × 48 GB memory modules. The company published CPU-Z and RunMemTestPro validation screenshots, demonstrating the board's ability to handle an unusually demanding combination of memory capacity, frequency, and latency.

While DDR5 8400+ support is impressive on paper, it should not be confused with guaranteed performance across all 4 memory slots. Higher frequencies generally favor smaller 2 module configurations, while achieving stable overclocks with 192 GB places substantially greater demands on memory signal integrity and the processor's integrated memory controller.

The latest demonstration also provides a different perspective from COLORFUL's earlier DDR5 8800 MT/s achievement on AM5, which focused on maximizing frequency with smaller memory configurations.

At approximately $283, the iGame X870E ULTRA-S V14 offers a strong combination of connectivity, storage expansion, and overclocking features. However, independent testing will be necessary to evaluate BIOS maturity, sustained VRM performance, and memory compatibility. Buyers planning to populate all 5 M.2 slots should also verify PCIe lane sharing through the motherboard documentation.

COLORFUL is becoming increasingly competitive in the enthusiast motherboard segment, particularly through aggressive pricing and improved memory overclocking capabilities.

The iGame X870E ULTRA-S V14 stands out because it combines features usually associated with higher priced motherboards, including 5 M.2 slots, dual USB4 connectivity, 5 GbE networking, and a dedicated clock generator.

However, its most interesting achievement remains the 192 GB DDR5 6600 CL28 demonstration. While DDR5 8400+ is attractive for enthusiasts, stable high capacity memory configurations can be more valuable for content creators, developers, and users balancing gaming performance with demanding productivity workloads.

If COLORFUL can deliver consistent BIOS support, strong memory compatibility, and wider international availability, the ULTRA-S V14 could become a compelling alternative to established X870E offerings from ASUS, MSI, and GIGABYTE.

Would you choose COLORFUL's $283 X870E motherboard over a more expensive ASUS, MSI, or GIGABYTE alternative, or would long term BIOS support and brand reputation influence your decision?
