Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 v1.4.0 Update Adds Frame Generation Support, QoL Improvements, and Combat Balance Tweaks

Developer Sandfall Interactive has released a significant new update for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, bringing a host of quality-of-life features, visual refinements, and major performance upgrades with the launch of Patch v1.4.0. Available now across all platforms, the update notably adds Frame Generation support for PC players with compatible NVIDIA and Intel hardware, marking a substantial performance leap for users seeking smoother gameplay and reduced latency.

One of the most important technical enhancements in the v1.4.0 patch is the inclusion of both NVIDIA DLSS Frame Generation and Intel XeSS Frame Generation with Low Latency Mode, ensuring a more fluid experience on PCs equipped with supported GPUs. This addition will be especially appreciated by players looking to get the most from the game’s graphically rich and painterly art style, which blends surreal environments with high-detail character animations. The result is reduced input lag and a higher frame-per-second experience, even at higher resolutions.

Beyond performance enhancements, the update adds multiple quality-of-life features designed to improve the core gameplay loop. Players now have access to a Battle Retry option, allowing instant rematches following defeat without having to reload or navigate back through menus. The new Lumina Cost Display clearly presents the resource cost of each ability within the Pictos menu, offering more clarity when planning strategies during combat.

In terms of accessibility and immersion, players can now enjoy Autoplay dialogue outside of cutscenes, which enables continuous progression through conversations without manual input—ideal for those focused on the game’s richly crafted narrative. Additionally, the update introduces separate volume sliders for exploration and combat music, providing finer control over the game’s sound design and atmosphere.

While the patch also implements balance tweaks, bug fixes, and visual polish across various game zones, it retains the integrity and challenge of the original experience.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 already stood out as a uniquely artistic and engaging RPG upon its release, with its strategic turn-based combat, compelling storyline, and memorable character development. With the launch of Patch v1.4.0, Sandfall Interactive continues to fine-tune an already impressive foundation, reinforcing the studio's commitment to long-term support and community feedback.
