Capcom Announces Resident Evil Survival Unit, A New Mobile RTS Game to Be Fully Revealed on July 10

Capcom has unveiled Resident Evil Survival Unit, a brand-new mobile game entry in the iconic horror franchise, now officially in development by Joycity and Aniplex in close collaboration with Capcom. This new project will bring the Resident Evil universe to the real-time strategy (RTS) genre, offering a fresh gameplay approach specifically designed for mobile platforms. Full details will be revealed during an official livestream presentation on July 10, 2025, at 3PM PT / 6PM ET / 11PM BST, accessible via the game’s official website.

The game will be released for both iOS and Android and will be available in North America, Europe, Japan, South Korea, and Asia, aiming for a broad global reach.

While the concept of a mobile RTS game might not generate the same hype as Resident Evil Requiem, which fans are eagerly awaiting, what makes Survival Unit particularly noteworthy is the involvement of Shinji Hashimoto, the legendary co-creator of Kingdom Hearts. Hashimoto revealed the project during Anime Expo Lite, emphasizing that this is a concept he’s been passionate about for a long time.

“The title offers a fresh take on the Resident Evil universe,” Hashimoto said during the reveal. “Introducing a strategy game system designed specifically for mobile users. While distinct from Capcom’s traditional Resident Evil series, it delivers a unique experience that stays true to the essence of the franchise.”

Although Resident Evil Survival Unit diverges from the traditional survival horror gameplay fans associate with the franchise, its strategic angle could provide a compelling and innovative twist for mobile players. Combining tactical gameplay with iconic lore, characters, and environments from the Resident Evil universe, this title could appeal to both franchise veterans and newcomers alike.

With Capcom’s backing and the creative direction of Shinji Hashimoto, the upcoming reveal promises insight into how Survival Unit will carve its place within the broader Resident Evil ecosystem.
