Borderlands 4 Confirms Reasonable PC Requirements
Gearbox Software has officially launched pre-orders for Borderlands 4, and with it comes a sigh of relief for fans. After weeks of speculation—fueled by company president Randy Pitchford's cagey remarks, players now know the game won’t carry the dreaded $80 price tag. Instead, it sticks to the more standard $69.99 for its base edition, while Deluxe and Super Deluxe editions climb to $99.99 and $129.99, respectively.
More importantly for PC players, Gearbox has shared the full system requirements via the game’s listings on both Steam and Epic Games Store, and the results are surprisingly tame considering the game runs on Unreal Engine 5.

For a modern AAA game built in Unreal Engine 5 with vast open-world ambitions, these requirements are fair and achievable, especially for players with setups from the past three to four years. Borderlands 4 is reported to feature the largest and most seamless map in the series’ history, offering true “what-you-see-is-what-you-can-reach” exploration.

While the PC version is ready to shine at launch, Switch 2 users will need to wait a bit longer, likely due to optimization challenges tied to the new hardware.
A Word on Pricing and Digital Games
Although Borderlands 4 avoids the $80 price ceiling for now, it’s part of a growing trend in the digital market where game prices are creeping upward particularly for Deluxe editions. With Deluxe and Super Deluxe editions breaching $100, many gamers might want to wait for seasonal or holiday discounts. Digital prices rarely drop in the first few months, but sales eventually come around, and the base game still delivers the core experience.
