AUO Unveils World’s First 24 Inch Full HD 800 Hz Gaming Monitor at Touch Taiwan 2026

AUO has officially announced what it describes as the world’s first 24 inch Full HD gaming monitor capable of reaching an 800 Hz refresh rate, making it one of the most aggressive esports display reveals of 2026 so far. The company shared the news during Touch Taiwan 2026 through its official announcement, where it also introduced new dual mode gaming panels including a 32 inch 4K 360 Hz display and a 27 inch 5K 180 Hz model.

The key point here is that AUO is not claiming to have announced the fastest monitor overall. Instead, it is specifically positioning this panel as the first standard 24 inch 1080p display to hit 800 Hz. That distinction matters because the ultra high refresh race has already moved beyond 800 Hz in other formats, with 1000 Hz class displays announced by several brands, often using dual mode or reduced resolution operation rather than a straightforward 24 inch Full HD configuration.

From a competitive gaming perspective, AUO’s move is strategically smart. The 24 inch Full HD format remains closely associated with esports focused play, where players often prioritize motion clarity, input responsiveness, and visual consistency over higher resolution. By pushing that familiar form factor to 800 Hz, AUO is targeting the part of the market most likely to care about every last gain in temporal smoothness and latency reduction.

AUO also used the announcement to show that it is not only chasing raw speed. Alongside the 800 Hz panel, the company presented a 32 inch dual mode display that can switch between 4K at 360 Hz and a separate high speed mode, as well as a 27 inch 5K 180 Hz panel. That broader lineup suggests AUO wants to compete across both ends of the premium monitor segment, covering pure esports performance and high fidelity hybrid gaming setups at the same time.

The wider display market context makes this reveal even more interesting. At CES 2026 and late 2025 showcases, manufacturers including Acer, AOC, Philips, and Samsung had already pushed the conversation toward 1000 Hz and even 1040 Hz class products, though those announcements were generally tied to 27 inch dual mode panels or lower resolution operating modes rather than a native 24 inch Full HD pitch. That leaves AUO with a very specific but still meaningful first to market style claim.

What AUO has not announced yet is just as important. There is currently no official pricing, retail availability, or confirmed commercial partner product based on the new 800 Hz panel. So while the technology milestone is real, players should treat this as a panel level announcement rather than an immediate consumer product launch. It may still take time before a finished retail monitor built around this display actually reaches the market.

For the gaming hardware space, the bigger takeaway is simple. The refresh rate race is no longer slowing down after 500 Hz or 540 Hz. It is accelerating into territory that only the most competitive players and the fastest systems can realistically exploit. AUO’s 24 inch 800 Hz panel is another sign that display makers see esports speed as a serious frontier, not just a niche stunt.

What do you think, is 800 Hz the kind of jump competitive players will actually feel, or has the refresh rate race now moved beyond what most gamers can meaningfully use?
