AMD Quietly Launches Ryzen 5 7500 and Ryzen 5 5500F
AMD has expanded 2 of its established desktop processor families with the Ryzen 5 7500 for AM5 and Ryzen 5 5500F for AM4, giving budget PC builders new 6 core options based on Zen 4 and Zen 3 respectively. Both processors officially launched on September 10, 2026, and AMD lists global availability, although pricing has not yet been announced.
The AMD Ryzen 5 7500 is effectively a Ryzen 5 7500F with integrated Radeon graphics enabled. It uses the Raphael architecture with 6 Zen 4 cores and 12 threads, a 3.7 GHz base frequency and boost speeds reaching 5.0 GHz. Cache includes 6 MB of L2 and 32 MB of L3 for 38 MB in total, while the processor carries a 65 W TDP and remains unlocked for overclocking. AMD also includes its Wraith Stealth cooler with the boxed version.
The biggest distinction from the Ryzen 5 7500F is the integrated graphics. AMD lists 2 Radeon graphics cores operating at up to 2200 MHz, providing basic display output without requiring a discrete graphics card. This is the same type of compact graphics configuration used across standard Raphael desktop processors and is primarily intended for desktop use, troubleshooting and systems where gaming graphics are handled separately.
The specifications confirm the details that surfaced shortly before its official release. The Ryzen 5 7500 sits only 100 MHz below the Ryzen 5 7600 in both base and maximum boost frequencies, while maintaining the same 65 W power class. Its eventual retail price will therefore be important in determining how much space exists between the 7500F and 7600.
AMD is also giving the much older AM4 platform another processor with the Ryzen 5 5500F. The new Zen 3 chip offers 6 cores and 12 threads with a 3.0 GHz base clock and boost frequency reaching 4.4 GHz. It includes 3 MB of L2 cache, 16 MB of L3 cache and a 65 W TDP, while supporting DDR4 3200 memory and PCIe 4.0. A discrete graphics card is required.
Interestingly, the Ryzen 5 5500F is not simply a Ryzen 5 5500 with its graphics disabled. AMD identifies the new processor as Vermeer, while the existing Ryzen 5 5500 is based on Cezanne. The standard 5500 also tops out at 4.2 GHz and supports PCIe 3.0, giving the new 5500F a higher maximum boost frequency and PCIe 4.0 connectivity despite sharing the same 16 MB L3 cache capacity.
The arrival of another AM4 processor is particularly notable because the platform continues receiving new hardware years after AM5 became AMD's mainstream desktop socket. Motherboard manufacturers are still releasing products such as the ASRock B550M Pro A WiFi 6E, giving budget builders and existing DDR4 owners additional ways to remain on Ryzen 5000 without replacing their memory and motherboard.
These 2 processors address very different parts of AMD's desktop ecosystem. The Ryzen 5 7500 makes sense as a lower cost AM5 entry point for builders who still want integrated graphics for troubleshooting and everyday display output. The Ryzen 5 5500F is more unusual, but it shows that AMD still sees commercial value in AM4.
Pricing will ultimately decide whether either CPU becomes compelling. The Ryzen 5 7500 needs enough separation from the Ryzen 5 7600, while the 5500F will have to compete with an enormous selection of inexpensive Ryzen 5000 processors already available in the market.
