AMD Adrenalin 26.10.2 Fixes Radeon RX 9000 and 7000 Crashes, but Several Issues Remain

AMD has released Adrenalin Edition 26.10.2, an optional graphics driver update addressing multiple stability problems affecting Radeon RX 9000 and RX 7000 series graphics cards. According to AMD's official release notes, the October 30 update resolves 10 reported issues involving driver timeouts, unexpected system shutdowns, application crashes, and compatibility problems with several recent games. However, the company continues investigating additional bugs affecting multiple Radeon generations, including the older RX 5000 series.

Among the most significant fixes are intermittent driver timeouts in Valor Mortis on Radeon RX 7000 graphics cards, including unexpected system shutdowns affecting RX 7600 models. Radeon RX 9000 owners also receive fixes for application freezes in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach when AMD FSR is enabled, alongside system crashes triggered by switching applications or toggling overlays while using FSR Frame Generation. AMD additionally resolved a Windows 11 issue where RX 7000 users could experience driver timeouts during video playback with Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling enabled. Other corrections address crashes involving the Steam launcher, Xbox Game Bar interactions with the Adrenalin Performance Metrics Overlay, and unexpected shutdowns in Final Fantasy Resonance on Ryzen AI MAX PRO 400 processors.

Despite these improvements, several problems remain unresolved. AMD acknowledges intermittent crashes and driver timeouts in Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced on RX 7000 hardware, while Radeon RX 5000 owners may continue experiencing instability in War Thunder. For affected users, AMD recommends returning to driver version 26.9.1. Radeon RX 9000 graphics cards also remain affected by potential crashes in Cyberpunk 2077 when combining FSR Upscaling, Radeon Anti Lag, and frame generation during secondary display video playback. Meanwhile, Phantom Blade Zero may exhibit visual corruption involving skies and character hair, with AMD recommending that users disable the High Quality Hair setting when necessary.

The company also continues investigating an issue where Smart Access Memory can become disabled following driver installation on Windows 10, a problem related to previously reported Radeon memory configuration issues. Additional known problems include black screen corruption in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered and display issues on selected Ryzen AI processors.

Adrenalin 26.10.2 supports Radeon RX 5000, RX 6000, RX 7000, and RX 9000 graphics cards, alongside compatible Radeon PRO and integrated graphics products. The update is available for Windows 10 and Windows 11 through AMD's official driver support page. Because this is an optional release focused primarily on stability rather than new features, users with stable systems may prefer to evaluate the remaining known issues before upgrading.

Driver stability remains one of the most important aspects of the Radeon gaming experience, particularly as technologies such as FSR Frame Generation, performance overlays, and hardware accelerated scheduling become increasingly integrated into modern games. AMD's latest update addresses several frustrating problems, but the extensive list of unresolved issues suggests that software compatibility still requires considerable attention. For gamers, consistent frame pacing and reliable system operation are ultimately more valuable than additional features that introduce instability. AMD's priority should remain improving driver reliability across its entire GPU lineup, especially when older Radeon cards continue receiving active software support.

Have you experienced driver timeouts or crashes with your Radeon GPU recently, and has Adrenalin 26.10.2 improved stability on your system?
