Alien: Rogue Incursion – Part One: Evolved Edition Brings Intense Xenomorph Horror to PS5 and PC Without VR This September
Survios has officially announced Alien: Rogue Incursion – Part One: Evolved Edition, a new flatscreen version of its critically acclaimed 2024 VR-exclusive title Alien: Rogue Incursion. This long-awaited release is set to bring the immersive xenomorph terror to a broader audience when it launches on September 30, 2025, for PlayStation 5 and PC, no VR headset required.
Originally developed as a virtual reality-only experience, Alien: Rogue Incursion stood out among horror VR titles for its intense atmosphere, grounded storytelling, and visceral survival gameplay — drawing favorable comparisons to Alien: Isolation from franchise veterans and horror enthusiasts alike. Now, Survios is giving more players the opportunity to step into the dark, claustrophobic world of Alien with a fully retooled version tailored for traditional gaming setups.
Standard and Deluxe Editions Now Available for Wishlist
Players can already wishlist the game on PlayStation and Steam. The Standard Edition will be priced at $29.99 USD, while the Deluxe Edition, priced at $39.99 USD, includes:
A digital art book detailing the visual design of the game,
An exclusive weapon skin, and
A specialized armor skin for enhanced visual customization.
A New Perspective, Same Brutal Survival
While the Evolved Edition is built on the foundation of the original VR experience, it presents unique challenges and design considerations. Much of Rogue Incursion’s gameplay mechanics were constructed around the immersive nature of VR — peeking around corners, interacting with terminals manually, and physically looking over your shoulder for approaching threats. It remains to be seen how effectively Survios has transitioned these mechanics into a traditional gameplay experience.
The footage shown in the reveal trailer seems to be in-engine but not indicative of real gameplay, so how players interact with the game world in this new format is still an open question.
Clarifying the ‘Part One’ Controversy
Survios also addressed previous confusion surrounding the subtitle "Part One." When Alien: Rogue Incursion originally launched, the subtitle was only added after release, leading to backlash from players who felt misled. In a statement following the release, the studio acknowledged the frustration but clarified that the game was never shortened or split — this two-part storytelling approach was always the plan. The studio simply failed to communicate it effectively ahead of launch.
With the Evolved Edition now confirmed, questions remain regarding the structure of the upcoming Part Two. Will it follow the same release format — VR first, flatscreen later? Or will Survios aim for a simultaneous multiplatform rollout? The studio has yet to provide any clarification, but the dual-track development of the Evolved Edition suggests they may be preparing to meet demand on both fronts at launch.
