Mafia: The Old Country Officially Launches August 8th With $49.99 Price Tag and New Gameplay Trailer

Hangar 13 and 2K have officially announced that Mafia: The Old Country, the latest entry in the iconic crime saga, will release on August 8, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S. In a bold move against the rising tide of $70 standard game pricing, Mafia: The Old Country will launch at a competitive price point of just $49.99 for the Standard Edition, while the content-packed Deluxe Edition will be available for $59.99.

Editions and Bonuses

The Standard Edition includes the full base game. The Deluxe Edition includes the Padrino Pack (featuring exclusive outfits, weapons, vehicles, and a horse) and the Gatto Nero Pack, which expands the arsenal and cosmetic options even further. Both editions will also receive the Soldato Pack as a pre-order bonus.

Notably, the game will also be available on NVIDIA's GeForce NOW streaming service at launch.

New Direction for the Franchise

Departing from the open-world structure of previous titles, Mafia: The Old Country embraces a linear, narrative-driven design. Set in early 1900s Sicily, it tells the origin story of Enzo Favara as he rises through the ranks of Don Torrisi’s crime family. Studio president Nick Baynes emphasized the return to the series’ storytelling roots:

Mafia: The Old Country is a focused, linear experience that combines quality storytelling, authentic era immersion and a refined take on the familiar Mafia gameplay. That focus allows us to deliver a story that’s gritty, grounded, brutal and emotional.”

The game is built on Unreal Engine 5, which replaces the proprietary engine used in previous entries. This change aims to offer enhanced visuals and performance while avoiding the pitfalls of open-world stuttering.

The title is already gaining traction for its stunning visuals, narrative ambition, and consumer-friendly approach to pricing. Fans of the franchise and newcomers alike will be able to experience Enzo's brutal rise through the criminal underworld this August.
