Alan Wake 2 Adds AMD FSR 4 as CONTROL Resonant Goes Gold Ahead of September Launch

Remedy Entertainment continues supporting Alan Wake 2 almost 3 years after release, with the new Update 1.2.10 finally introducing official AMD FSR 4 support on PC alongside FSR Frame Generation. At the same time, the studio has confirmed that CONTROL Resonant has gone gold, locking in its digital launch for September 24, 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

According to the official Alan Wake 2 patch notes, FSR 4 is automatically activated on compatible GPUs whenever players select FSR Super Resolution. Remedy has also added a separate FSR Frame Generation option for supported hardware, providing Radeon users with another route toward higher performance in one of the most demanding path traced PC games available.

The update is particularly meaningful for AMD users because Alan Wake 2 originally launched with FSR 2 while NVIDIA hardware has received several major rendering upgrades since release. In January 2025, Remedy added DLSS 4, Transformer based Super Resolution and Ray Reconstruction, Frame Generation, Multi Frame Generation, RTX Mega Geometry, and an Ultra ray tracing preset. The new AMD implementation significantly improves the available feature set for modern Radeon hardware.

AMD currently supports its machine learning powered FSR Upscaling technology on Radeon RX 7000 and RX 9000 Series graphics cards, with RX 9000 hardware also supporting the wider collection of FSR Redstone technologies. FSR Upscaling 4.1 became available on Radeon RX 7000 Series cards during June 2026 after originally launching for RX 9000 hardware earlier in the year.

Update 1.2.10 also moves Opacity Micromaps and Shader Execution Reordering to the Microsoft Agility SDK, allowing those technologies to operate across multiple GPU vendors instead of remaining tied to a narrower implementation. Remedy additionally fixed lingering cinematic audio synchronization problems across all platforms, a potential Quick Slot crash, and an issue involving the Crossbow Cult Stash blocking Lighthouse access during New Game Plus.

The timing arrives just as Remedy shifts its attention toward the next major chapter of its connected universe. CONTROL Resonant has officially gone gold, meaning the main development build has reached the stage required for release preparation and platform distribution.

"CONTROL Resonant has gone gold! Get ready to unleash Dylan Faden's paranatural abilities in warped Manhattan on September 24th."

The digital version remains scheduled for September 24, 2026, although physical copies have been delayed until October 15. Remedy says it needs additional time to deliver the physical edition, creating a roughly 3 week gap for players planning to purchase the game on disc.

CONTROL Resonant places players in control of Dylan Faden as Manhattan faces a paranatural catastrophe. Remedy describes the sequel as an action RPG built around Dylan's supernatural abilities, exploration, and a reality bending threat connected to the wider CONTROL universe. The game arrives as one of Remedy's most important launches yet after the original Control surpassed 6 million copies sold.

Alan Wake 2 receiving FSR 4 this late in its lifecycle is a welcome improvement, especially because path tracing makes modern reconstruction technology almost essential at high resolutions. Radeon RX 7000 and RX 9000 owners now have a much stronger native option instead of relying on the older FSR implementation.

For Remedy, however, the bigger milestone is CONTROL Resonant going gold. The studio now has little more than 1 month before one of its most commercially important releases arrives. With the digital launch secure and Alan Wake 2 still receiving substantial technical support, Remedy appears to be using its existing catalog and upcoming release as a connected technology showcase for its engine and universe.

Will FSR 4 make you return to Alan Wake 2 on Radeon hardware, or are you already moving your attention toward CONTROL Resonant on September 24?
